I noticed that military academies do not place on the US college ranking system, but if USAFA could go into the rankings, would it be on the top 20?

Forbes rates us #16 for 2009 (but it also says USMA is #6… :p)

What makes you think that the military academies are not ranked on US college rankings?

It doesn’t matter. This is not a college, or at least not one that can be compared fairly to your typical university. Our mission is too different. Apples and oranges, my friend (in my opinion at least).

Actually, the new Forbes ranking has USMA as #1, while USAFA and USNA are #7 and #30, respectively.

Forbes is flawed. It only includes private schools. What about all the top public schools. I mean the University of Michigan isn’t even on the list. The only Michigan college on there is Kalamazoo College. A bit of a joke if you ask me.

The service academies are very difficult to compare against other colleges. How many colleges have basic training and combat survival as graduation requirements?

Academically, USAFA and the other academies rate very well for undergraduate programs, but the academies have MANY things other schools do not (and not everything that a “normal” school would have).

Joshrk22:

Forbes includes William and Mary, and some of the US military schools which are public.

Whoa, that’s way too advanced! Most of the fat coach-potato kids I see walking around Yale, Johns Hopkins, and Columbia couldn’t even pass the basic military academy Physical Fitness Exam.

Not sure which list you are looking at, but I found 16 schools from Michigan, including University of Michigan ( [#200 University of Michigan, Ann Arbor - Forbes.com](<a href=“Forbes List Directory”>Forbes List Directory) ) and plenty of other public schools.

Sorry, my mistake.

easy. it’d definetely be ranked 2010th. for obvious reasons…

;)

that’s awfully low there, eagle.

ok, well how about 10th then?

;)

i think it’s just a tad high…

No, that sounds about right.

I heard USAFA was ranked 13th…

dude, not even close.
