I know that these rankings are somewhat flawed, but the new Princeton Review came out, and most of the rankings for USAFA make sense…at least you can see where they’re coming from after being here for at least a year

Thanks for the post!
As a parent I found the rankings encouraging.
The food thing does seem a bit of a puzzle though. Haven't heard too much positive about Mitchell food. Son thought the base food at Fairchild was great, though.
There is much more in all of this to be digested, however.

AFB's have great food. every base i've eaten at has good food. mithc's is nothing like normal bases b/c mitch's has to make food in mass (for over 4000 ppl at one time).

Man, I miss my breakfast at Davis Monthan. I would either get freshly cooked on the griddle eggs, french toast, and or pancakes. Then I'd have chocolate milk, bacon, and biscuits. mmm, I miss ops!

I asked myself the same question about intramurals since a few years ago Sports Illustrated designated USAFA as the most athletic school in the country. Could it be that there are so many IC's at USAFA that the percentage participation in intramurals is lower than some other schools?

I've only been here a few weeks and already have a very different impression! No this is not State U, but "stone-cold sober" is most definitely an overstatement.

Son says that one squadron recently got 15 of what he calls "alcohol hits" i.e. cadets caught with alcohol. Says that really bad things are going to come down on that squadron. Wouldn't be a blip on anyone's radar screen at State U.

Wow, 15 people? I saw that there was an alcohol hit 18 days ago but I didn't know what happened. We have a handy dandy e-mail sent out everyday that includes how long since the last alcohol hit.

I think I reported correctly what my son said, but I do fairly often screw things up. Anytime I misreport something, please don't hesitate to correct it. 15 hits this early in the year does sound excessive for one squadron. However, it sounded like things were getting out of hand in that squadron and some of the cadets got fed up with it and blew the whistle.

Vegas can have that effect on people..all the lights, fast rides, warm climate, cool buildings, great uniforms.....I was talking about Nellis, not the strip. Seriously it is an easy town to get into trouble in though.

We're actually still at 0 hits for the year. It justs says 18 days because that's how long it's been since the start of the academic year. Eighteen days apparently isn't too bad though. According to Lt. Gen. Regni, we've already beaten last year's record. ;)
