I remember one of the Star Trek’s where Captain Janeway said, “I swore I would never get stuck in one of those space-time paradoxes”. Lol. Of course thinking about time travel logically will make your head hurt.
If Otter Tooth dies in the 1700’s, is he still born (again) in the 1900’s? He could keep going back it would seem.
I know, I don’t think I’ll ever get used to these series where you have to wait a year or more. I’m hesitant anymore about the books, I’ve not liked the last two very much.
I’m still going to be an avid book reader. I want to know what happens to Claire and Jamie in the end and get the Jamie ghost question answered from season 1 episode 1 (I heard she said that would get explained). I don’t know whether she’ll ever answer it but who is Raymond and what time is he from. Can you move beyond your time?
I’ll continue to read and I do think her last 2 books had moments of brilliance, but I feel I was slogging through a lot of it and the story went off the rails sometimes. Not the quality of the first few books.
Totally want to know about Jamie’s ghost! I feel like that’s possibly a key to how people move through time, even those who can’t move through time like him?
“Well, he’s a prehistoric time traveler. I think he came from somewhere about 400 BC or perhaps a bit earlier (not technically “prehistoric,” but they certainly weren’t using written records where he started out), and the 18th century is not his first stop.”
If this is true then travelers can move beyond their own time and beyond when they should be dead. The time travelers we’ve seen Claire, Roger, Brianna etc. have only moved back in time or foward to their own time. Raymond would be unique among them.
@lvvcsf Right!??! That’s why I want to read the next darn book already!! The time travel rules are changing and that opens up so much in the larger story.
And Jamie’s ghost. Sigh. That bit was done so well in the TV show, I felt. Gives me shivers still
Am I the only one who missed or forgot that Raymond is an ancestor of Claire and Geillis’? I need to re-read I think…I have all the books on Kindle except MOHB, got them in a 99 cent sale awhile back as a collection.
Diana wrote a novella called “A Space Between” in which it is intimated that Claire is a descendent of Raymond. (She’s not the only one just to give you teaser ?).
I just got into this series, but now I am into it in a big way. I first heard of “Outlander” while I was in Scotland and we went to a Highlander Folk museum where they were having “Outlander Days”. Some of the re-enactors there had been in the show.
Then I found series 1 and 2 on Netflix. Then found 3 and 4 on Starz streaming. And now every evening I watch another episode. They are filming season 5 now.
Now I’m really glad we stopped at the Culloden Battlefield near Inverness and saw their excellent museum.
Like some of you, I don’t like the actress who plays “Bree”. Her voice is monotone. Other than that the casting is very good.
Season 5 starts Feb. 16th. Looking forward to it! DH acts like he watches as some sort of favor to me, but the other day, he said “Good God, when does Big Red come back on? It’s been forever!”
I think the book is supposed to come out in 2020. I have to be honest. I’ve disliked the past 2 books. My expectations aren’t that high, so maybe that’s good.
Sunday night was a huge bummer, but I had predicted it. I guess given the actual story in the books, we could consider our time with this character a bonus.
We really look forward to these episodes, given the current situation.
