If you are a fan of the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon

I did get the book from the library, right on time during my week off last month. Got through the book in one day - thanks to the vacation! As usual, it meandered quite a bit but still kept my interest. I am guessing the way things were left at the end of the book, that there will be another?

@MADad - that is it for the Philippa Gregory books as far as tv adaptations. I am a fan! Especially of the White Queen.

Loved Spanish Princess series. Have an entirely new perspective on Catherine of Aragon who is usually depicted as old and pious, not as young, intelligent and courageous.

Am a fan of several Phillipa Gregory books (but not others).

I believe she has written other books besides those cover by the aforementioned 3 series. Just hoping for more!

My wife really enjoys how she views historical events through the female perspective.

Yes!

One of my favorites was The Other Boleyn Girl if you guys havenā€™t read that one yet!

That one was made into a movie that is on our need-to-watch list!

Hmmmā€¦I have nothing else planned for tonight!

I didnā€™t even realize that the season had debuted already!

SPOILER WARNING:

I saw some comments on Twitter about ether abuse. That NEVER happened in the book! Iā€™m not a book vs show purist, but Is this episode going to tick me off?

I donā€™t say this lightly but I HATED the first episode of the new season.

I feel like it has lost its heart and soul.

I agree. The whole show seems tired and stale. I am disappointed.

Responding to my own comment that I just watched The Other Boleyn girl and thought that it was not nearly as good as I had hoped it would be.:slightly_frowning_face:

Iā€™m doing the same. Do you have any idea when the free week is?

The Other Boleyn Girl was a terrific read, but terrible movie IMO.

Iā€™m currently half way through the most current book. It is much better than the last two, but itā€™s taking me forever to get through. I get sleepy reading it. Sheā€™s lost her flair and needs to end the series.

Yeah, thatā€™s kind of what I found, too.

It was way too rushed, and didnā€™t deal with any of the important emotional or psychological issues.

Unfortunately, I do not. Hoping itā€™s after the newest Outlander season has run its course. Normally I see it pop up in the Comcast program guide halfway through the week!

Right now itā€™s free HBO movie week, I believe.

I just got an email today from xfinity. Itā€™s their free week this week, including Starz. Figures. I donā€™t like the series enough anymore to pay. Iā€™ll just wait until next year, or if it comes out on DVD.

I saw that Sundayā€™s new episode was free but older seasons were notā€¦not sure what that means. Maybe theyā€™re giving us ep. 1 to whet our appetite and pay up to see the rest of the seasonā€¦not us.

I frankly think the whole story line should have ended when Claire returned to find Jamie in Edinburgh working as a printer. That ending would have tied a bow on the story, wrapped it up before the crazy story lines began.

That would have been a good ending, agreed! I did enjoy having Jamie meet Bree, though. I think it was at the end of Book 4 where they were starting their life in America where I think she should have ended the series. Really has gone downhill from there.
