-I'm a sophomore and I'm interested in either going to college for nuclear engineering or political science, both interest me.

I'm in the top 10% of my class with a 97 GPA as a freshman and i didn't take school seriously and so far as a sophomore my GPA is a 100 and this is weighted and i don't know how to put those numbers in GPA style format.

So far I have taken 12 Honors Classes(2 of them were half year classes) and 3 electives.

[Sports] I made varsity soccer (bench player) and tennis( #1 singles) as a freshman and obviously sophomore, and run the one mile in indoor track where i hit times of 5:15's.

I plan on running for vice president for my class for junior and senior year, most likely will win.

I plan on joining NHS at the end of this year and eventually in the future running for president or some position.

Reaches : Johns Hopkins, Notre Dame, Georgetown
Realistic : Georgia Tech, U of Ill Urbana, George Washington
Safety : Northeastern, American, state school

I think you definitely can get a higher score on your SATS, and your grades are on track, so I think you have a decent shot all those universities (the realistic and safeties you’re def in).

You’re still a sophomore so there’s still so much that’s being left up in the air. If your SAT winds up being around 2100 then you have a great chance for JHU, and many of your reaches will be matches.

Keep on what you’re doing, look for volunteer and internship opportunities, and really build up a passion in your ECs, not just trying to be the president of respectable clubs.

Since you are just a sophomore, you have plenty of time. Advice: find some extraciricular activities that interest you (do NOT build a resume using pointless activities such as the sport that you mentioned varsity…sit the bench). Being on a varsity team and sitting the bench is completely pointless UNLESS you truly enjoy it…It should not help get you into college, (2) Take the SAT once and the ACT once, compare the scores and the one again that you feel you could do better on (at least 2000 score/30 ACT), and (3) take lots of AP classes and exams. Good luck!

A 1900 should definatelyy get u innto UIUC and Georgia Tech… but u have so much time might as well pull your score upto a 2000 or 2100…
Thanks for chancing me

Johns Hopkins is definitely realistic because you’re still a sophomore. Build up your ECs this year and keep them strong throughout the rest of high school, get a 2200+ on the SAT and you’re in at your “reaches”.

to bio- I was bench player for soccer because i was a freshman and i fractured my shin this year as a sophomore. Next year I’ll be one of the best on the team and its my favorite sport.

For the top levels you definitely need to break into the 2000’s to feel any sense of security and to give yourself a decent chance. That said, all of the schools below your reaches seem to be in good shape for being accepted to.

Looking good for those schools, except SAT for your reaches. Since your aiming for engineering you should try to focus on getting a good math score particularly. Aim for a 750+ on both the Reasoning math and Math II (yeah, you should prob. take math II).

I think you’ll be fine to even your reach schools then! :)

Uh, I’d say you’re headed for whatever school you please if you keep up what you’re doing, and get in the 2200s on your SATs (which you prolly will). You really need to do some ECs that relate to your majors. And get some community service stuff on.
