If you check that you're not apply for FA...

will you still be able to get need based aid from that college?

Why would you check that you are not applying for financial aid when you want financial aid?

If you think that you want to or will need to apply for need-based aid from a college, do not indicate on the application that you will not be applying for financial aid.

If you check NO, it is very possible that the school won’t even consider your financial aid application forms even IF they are sent in.

Why would you check NO if you need need based aid to attend?

You can check No and still file FAFSA to get a Direct Loan. They won’t consider you for school financial aid.

@a20171

Why are you asking this?

@thumper1 @“Erin’s Dad” @Madison85 I’m asking because it was brought up at my school. People were telling me to check that I won’t be applying for aid because only people that really make no money apply for aid and I thought that didn’t really make sense and I thought it was for anyone looking for any type of aid not like extremely low income looking for full rides

It’s nonsense that only people who make NO money apply for aid. NONSENSE.

At some very generous colleges, families with $200,000 incomes can still get need based aid. Clearly they are earning a LOT more than NOTHING.

What “people” were telling you this? It’s nothing short of poppycock.

@thumper1 a few kids and one teacher. i checked yes on all my applications and they had me second guessing it

No need to second guess yourself there. If you qualify for need based aid I’m sure your parents will be happy you checked that box.
