If you could do it all again...

Let's just say that you could go back a year(Or in my case I would want to apply as an 8th grader instead of a 10th grader), would you do anything different? Would you change your criteria for schools? Would you apply to more schools or less or different school? Would you apply to smaller schools or larger ones? Would you have started earlier?

Would you have interviewed at more schools or actually gone to the campuses if you didn't? I didn't get to visit most of the schools I applied to, and I would have loved to.

I would have gone back and redone every single awkward interview moment.

... there were a lot of them. =D

I would deffinitly be looking at the same school, but I wish I had begun looking into prep schools earlier (fall of grade eight) instead of spring of grade nine. Just so things would have been easier to figure out.

I probably would have looked at a few more schools (even if I knew Berkshire was my number 1).

I would have MAYBE applied to a couple easier ones other than just A and E.

No other regrets... I liked my application; nothing I would revise or re-do. I WOULD have liked to have known about Exeter earlier, though. I only found out about it in October, so knowing about it grade 8 would have been nice!

I would definitely apply to more schools.
I had never heard of half of the schools on the TSO.
I would apply for SPS, Hotchkiss, Deerfield, Groton, and Loomis.

I also would have prepared for my SSATs earlier. I only started preparing in August D:

I would have done more research before applying, applied for more schools, and studied for the SSAT longer. I was very unprepared when I began applying.

i would look into more schools. i would try to look deeper into the schools out there. probably apply to a school that has something i absolutly love that others didn't

I only applied in grade 11 so I would do it at least a year earlier. I would start looking at the different schools in September. I was lucky and visited 10 but if I had started earlier, I could have visited even more. It is only in visiting the school that you really get the feel. Each school is so different that it is quite amazing. I would get even more ECs and begin my applications sooner.

VISITED TEN? jeeze. Lucky dog.

I would have applied to Choate, if I could do it again.

Like many here, I would have applied to many more schools and done more research.

If I could do it again...

Well, honestly, I don't want to do it again. One attempt in 8th grade but all waitlisted/rejected. Second attempt in 9th grade and all waitlisted/rejected except ONE.

But still, if I could do it again, I would have realized that GPA was a critical factor (back in 8th grade) and worked hard to get the highest scores possible...

I agree with you ItalianBoarder, I wish I would have applied as an 8th grader. And yeah I wish I had applied to more schools, kind of. I was a little hard on myself and was discouraged from applying to some of the top schools (Exeter and Andover pretty much). This year I applied to two schools, one reach and one high reach. I got into both. I truly believe that my two good interviews are what got me in. All in all I'm still super happy about the outcome of all this.

I will apply earlier, work harder for SSAT, apply more schools, search schools carefully. I will never apply school with small endowment.

i would've worked on my essays a bit more and probably work a whole lot harder at school.
ohhh, and i'd also pick a few safeties.
i was lucky to get accepted to some top tier schools, but it wasn't really safe to pick all high reaches w/o some safety.

I would have encouraged my son to apply at schools closer to his club soccer team so maintaining year-round involvement wouldn't be so difficult (7 hours driving to practice and back!) He loveslovesloves his school and it was the only one he applied to because big brother went and he always wanted to go. We love it too...but it is really making his other dream (taking soccer as far as he can) extremely difficult to attain.

I think I would have spent more time with my daughter figuring out priorities.

I knew that top academics were the driving force behind applying to a BS, but I didn't realize how painful it would be for her to give up a major EC that she was involved in. It wasn't her highest priority, but it was the thing that made her happy and less stressed.

If I did it again, I might ensure that she could continue that EC even if the academic rigor dropped a tiny bit.

i agree with grejuni. i would have looked into schools with the EC that i love

i would have applied to more schools in new england. i really would have loved to go away to school, and i am ending up going to a school about 45 min away from my house.

I would've liked to have known about and applied to more schools, plus I would've liked to send in my much improved grades in 2nd term even though it was about 2 weeks before March 10 :(
