Whether it be funny or serious. And, why?

I would legalize gay marriage, but I feel a debate coming… so I will refrain from why.

This in itself is probably enough to get a debate going

No college should cost more than $25,000.

Why would you do that? Homosexuality is a sin!

I’d legalize nudity. Of course, you’d have to undergo a rigorous evaluation and screening process to be certified.

I lol’d.

I was just talking about this today. I would create a law stating that there shall be no Christmas-themed advertisements, music, decorations or otherwise until the third Friday in November. After that, go crazy. But I don’t want any of it until then. Businesses found in violation of this law shall forfeit all of their earnings from the date of their first Christmas-themed advertisement until the end of the first week in January of the following year. Individuals found in violation of this law will not be permitted any celebration or general merrymaking related to the Christmas holiday for the rest of the season during which the offense occurred. They may be permitted to attend a service at their place of worship, and a Christmas dinner will be left to the discretion of the judge.

I’d probably enact a law that gave students more rights at schools (because you know, we students have to forfeit our Constitutional rights (to a certain extent) while at school).

^Preach, brothaman.

The complete secularization of all government related institutions (schools, laws themselves, politics, etc).

What Constitutional rights do you feel that you have been denied?

I would pass a law giving my own family members, along with me, powers that supersede those of the US Government.

Folks would have to take a mandatory driving test every year after their 65th birthday.

I would like to turn this country socialist.

In addition, do you feel that the loss of these rights makes the school as a whole more safe or more dangerous?

In addition, do you feel that the loss of these rights makes the school as a whole more safe or more dangerous?

Should we ban alcohol because it’s safer for the alcoholics? Should we ban driving to prevent accidents? Should we ban airplanes to prevent them from crashing? Safety is a factor in deciding on any regulation, but it’s not the primary goal.

Why is this necessary? You go to school to learn. I see no reason why you would even need to exercise Constitutional rights.

I would make a law that would cause everyone be inclusive to other people.

In addition, do you feel that the loss of these rights makes the school as a whole more safe or more dangerous?

What Constitutional rights do you feel that you have been denied?

It’s hard to say. For example, on school campus, you can be searched by school officials without a warrant even without probable cause (see New Jersey v. T.L.O., for example). While this may keep another Columbine from happening (or some similar catastrophe), it’s a bit unnerving to know that an official can come into a classroom, pull a student out of class and search their belongings just because they have some (possibly dubious) reason.

Another right that is rather restricted on school grounds is the freedom of speech. I mean, it’s a bit disturbing to know that school officials have quite a bit of power when trying to regulate student speech (and if the school’s wrong, how hard a student has to work to reverse the administration’s decision). Even though the Tinker v. Des Moines case set the precedent that students still have some Constitutional rights at school, I feel that students should have more rights than they do now.

Any of those examples you provided has some sort of benefit when used properly. Alcohol, when used in moderation, helps people enjoy themselves. Cars, when driven well, provide convenience. Airplanes, when properly maintained, make long distance travel much more accessible. What benefit does preserving a teenager’s right to bear arms (an obvious example) in school provide? Do you think he is under direct threat at school? Do you think he will need weapons to overthrow the government during the course of the school day?

No more gum chewing in public.
