If you had the power to pass one national law right now, what would it be?

Mine'd probably be about the cost of college tuition, lol.

If you had the power to pass one national law right now, what would it be?

Mine'd probably be about the cost of college tuition, lol.

Mine would be about how every school HAS to have leveled classes

I’d eliminate class rank. Kids at my high school get way too competitive over it.

Lower the drinking age to 18.

make campaigning illegal

I debated in a debate league in high school and their resolution this year is “federal election law should be significantly reformed in the United States” so that’s been on my mind lately.

The first thing I would do in that area is replace the plurality vote / electoral college system with a national popular vote whose result is determined by [ranked pairs](Ranked pairs - Wikipedia).

Seconded the elimination of the electoral college.

but where would we be without president george w. bush???

Not saying that this is my law, but what do you think about a system with more than two parties?

we have that…? or do you mean two major parties? there could theoretically be a third major party, but it would have to take from probably one of the two existing major parties

how about NO parties

Without Bush we’d be…FINE!
Can’t have three major parties. Majority wins, and another party would require new laws to suit its addition.

nuhuh bush was a GREAT president who totally deserved to win

That better be sarcasm.

Haha… Someone in my government class said, “We don’t even need Congress any more! We can just text in our votes!” Don’t worry, he was joking.

wait are you talking about ballot laws? what laws would need to change?

plus, if you got rid of the electoral college, then majority wouldn’t really be an issue.

but theorectially it’s possible, because theodore roosevelt created the bull moose party but that just ended up splitting the republicans

@clementines2016, if you were talking to me, he meant that we don’t need people to represent us. He thinks that we had enough technology and means to vote on issues ourselves. But the whole texting thing was a joke.

By multiple parties, I meant that parties would further divide so there wouldn’t be major parties. I don’t know if I would support that. I’d have to think about it more.

oh no i was talking to the other person LOL

no that wasn’t sarcasm lol jk do u think im brain dead. but al gore :(

I would pass a law legalizing same-sex marriage.

My first instinct is to manage the US budget, if I think of anything better I’ll share.

The electoral college would have to change. 270 votes wins you the presidency, and three parties would make it nearly impossible to attain.
The “new” party would also just borrow ideas from current parties (not the tea party).
