I’m a Sophomore in college and times have changed ever since I left High School. I’ve learned how to not be socially awkward towards people anymore like I was before.

Stretch your horizons. Be less afraid to fail. Try new things outside of your comfort zone. Be more open to differing opinions.

It gets better.

Also sleep more.

I’d myself in the beat the **** out of me and tell me to actually try

Talk to more people on your dorm floor.

Speak up in class or none of your teachers will know you.

Get contacts before high school starts, or else you will look like a dweeb for two years and have everyone think you are this naive nerd.

Don’t be socially awkward. If your friends ask to hang out, you will have the best times of your life. Trust me.

Good job not drinking or doing drugs.

Talk to that girl who sits next to you in business class who is also on your tennis team. If you dont, junior year will be hellishly awkward.

Study for Mr. M’a bio tests. And study the obscure things he says he wont test you on.

Ask that clueless foreign exchange student out and take advantage of him, he’s asking for it.

Stretch and get better XC shoes or you will be out for your most important varsity season.

Take more risks. Live a little.

HS sucked for me and I didn’t realize at the time how much support I would have had if I had loosened up a bit. Been a bit more forgiving, been more open. People I thought would never be friends might have been good friends if I’d made the effort. They were there, I was not. A good lesson to learn no matter how old you are. I have some super friends from HS days but I could have had many more. Guess that’s what reunions are for!
