If you could write your own Bible,

what moral guidelines would it consist of?

1 - never define your morals based on a stupid book, no matter who it's written by. Look inside yourself. Stop reading this book. Now. I have nothing to say on the matter of your moral decisions or your afterlife. Idiot.

You misunderstood, silverpebble. I use the term "Bible" loosely. So basically, what I'm asking is if you look inside yourself and discover your own thoughts of what's right or wrong, what would they be? I didn't mean to offend anyone.

ok look
i've been thinking about this a lot

my religion would be called Bobism
Bob is the supreme leader
the holy text is none other than... THE BOBLE!
as for what it says, i haven't quite gotten there yet

but, so clever right??? :D

silverpebble - chill out.

My thoughts for this topic could be taken directly from a book.

I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell By Tucker Max

ilovemath314159,

you must be psychic, because my friends and I are already worshipping Bob. (we even made matching shirts to wear that goes 'In Bob We Trust') :D.

In Rhea County of TN it would be more like: In Bush and Baptism We Trust

Rule #1, the only rule, treat other people the way you'd like to be treated.

Great post silverpebble.

i use Mao's biobgraphy as a bible as do many ppl i know

they will make the bible from my biography when sb writes it...

or if u cant take a joke, u need to use 2046 (the movie) as ur bible

go purrli!!

silverpebble, no matter what others say to "chill out" etc, you hit the nail on the spot.

religion has caused so many more deaths than neccessary.

i also agree with what silverpebble said, only i think he/she could have said it a lil nicer?

The Book Of Bokonon
Really my Bible

Don't most, if not all, atheists and agnostics have their own moral codes? A compilation of your personal beliefs would constitute your "own Bible." For example: 1) Ban death penalty, 2) Stop war, and whatever else you personally believe in. In other words, your "Bible" is simply the written version of your moral codes. Having one doesn't necessarily mean that you will impose your beliefs on others. You can also choose not to have your beliefs in written form, so they can be open to revision any time, but your "Bible" is also open to revision. It can be as religious or as atheist as you would like it to be.

Individualism over collectivism.

Racism or racial segregation over racial tolerance.

Eugenics over freedom of reproduction.

Merit over equality.

Competition over cooperation.

Power politics and militarism over pacifism.

One-person rule or self-rule over democracy.

Capitalism over Marxism.

Realism over idealism.

Nationalism over internationalism.

Exclusiveness over inclusiveness.

Meat-eating over vegetarianism.

Gun ownership over gun control

Common sense over theory or science.

Pragmatism over principle.

Religion over secularism.

**** conservatism!!!!:)

sagekid, the problem is not that one has their own religous codes, but rather religons constantly compete over other religons to enforce their beliefs.

Think about this. How many athetist missionaries do you know in the course of history? You may know a few. Now, think of how many Christian missionaries have there been. Hell, even Columbus was one.

Mao. Stalin.

Do you honestly think they tried to preach athetism upon the world?

Mao was certainly not an athetist. He taught everyone else he was God. I highly doubt you can refer to that as athetism. While you're in the same boat, you could call WW2 a bunch of athetists also for believing that their King was a God.
