If you do get the grades for your classes because of depression...

How do colleges "treat" people who have been diagnosed with depression in terms of financial aid?

There should be no interaction between medical issues and financial aid. The only connection would be if there was a problem with SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress) toward a degree. Meaning, most colleges expect students to complete a certain number of courses per academic year (often set at a the lowest minimum that still qualifies a student as fulltime). Another measurement of SAP can be GPA, if it falls below a certain level, usually set somewhere below a 2.0. At some point, lack of forward motion in # of credits earned vs. attempted or being dismissed academically because of a failing GPA gets in the way of qualifying for financial aid.

Depression may be the reason behind a lack of SAP, but in depression in and of itself is none of FA’s business.
