if you don't submit an AP score, how much is it gonna hurt your chances?

ok, i'm taking 6 ap exams this year. i've been taking 2 yrs of physics (honors and ap) but had the most horrible teacher...literally during honors physics we watched mythbusters (not to mention that we were allowedd to use cheat sheets for every exam including the finals) and this year, during AP, we watched the Big Bang Theory (haha all the seasons) and used formula sheet for every test as well. today he just told us that we are not allowed to use the formula sheet for MC and i think i'm gonna bomb the test. If i decide to cancel my score (so they won't even grade it and won't appear in my transcript), how bad is that gonna affect my chances? i feel extremely unprepared for that test and there is no way in this life that i'm gonna get a 4/5.

Speaking from experience and a year lurking CC, AP scores are not a big criteria when colleges rank applicants. Colleges mainly just use AP scores to rank which first year courses you can take.

I got a 5 on Phys B too, even though I thought I did terribly. I’m not certain why, but my instructor decided to go very heavily into the electromagnetism side of physics, and I did not understand that part well. Thankfully it didn’t appear much on the actual exam. You probably didn’t do as badly as you thought. Just something else to consider.

In addition, it is a good thing to look on the bright side of everything. It sounds like you had a fun physics class. I still haven’t watched any big bang theory. We watched a documentary on Einstein and Tesla’s life on our days off after the exam. That’s how hardcore the course was for me. Though to be fair, I do look back on it fondly now, and the documentaries were interesting.

If a college is so hard that they reject you for cancelling an AP score, then that college is probably not for you. The entering average will be very high, and working all day up from 9AM-9PM every weekday will not change the fact that your GPA will drop down to that of the class average unless you are a FOB first year. Hard colleges are not fun.

This will not affect your chances significantly.
