IF YOU GOT IN--post your stats!

simple - if you got into a BS/MD post your stats.

GPA:
ACT or SAT:
SAT II:
AP:
Rank:

Extracurriculars:

Recs:

Interviews:

Anything you think that helped:

To those who didn't get in, pleasse post your stats as well, so we can compare.

GPA:3.6
ACT or SAT: SAT, 1500 or 2210, however you want to look at it.
SAT II: Latin: 800, Chem: 700, Math II: 740
AP: N/A, but I take college courses at my school
Rank: school doesn’t rank, but I’m in the top half (40 student class total)

Extracurriculars: piano (10 years), political campaign volunteer/senatorial intern through high school, volunteering at hospital (150-200 hrs at local hospital over the summer), lab intern (got my name on two papers), president of my model un club, captain of my school varsity soccer team, student council rep.

Recs: great, two from my teachers at school, one from my lab supervisor.

Interviews: BU, UConn, got into both.

Anything you think that helped: The fact that my high school lets us take classes at BU, and that I did well in them, probably helped. Also, my extracurriculars, even though they weren’t all medical related, showed them that I had a lot of interests. When they asked me what made me a good candidate in the interviews, I told them that I’ve had a lot of time and experience in different professional settings that helped me make an informed decision about my choice to become a doctor. I think they liked that.

bu,mpppppppppppp

I know this would have been SOO useful to me about a year ago, so here ya go applicants:

GPA: 4.0 (4.51 weighted)
ACT or SAT: 2370 superscore (800 M, 770 CR, 800 W)
SAT II: 700 USH, 780 Math II, 800 Chem
AP: 3 USH, 5 Calc AB, 5 Euro, 5 Chem
Rank: 2/298

Extracurriculars: Karate (8 years), Varsity Tennis (Captain), Lung Cancer Research (nothing super huge, just did about 50 hrs worth at a local facility, I worked in a small lab with a lot of funding so that helped), Volunteering (150ish hours in hospitals), Shadowing (Endocrinology; Neurology 80(?) hours), MUN (Leader), NYLF Med, Science Club (Treasurer), developed project that donated medical supplies to areas in India etc. There’s a few others I’m sure, but I got all the major ones.

Recs: good

Interviews: I applied to a LOT of schools got interviews at most of them (HPME, REMS, UPitt, BU, 3 Drexel Schools, 1 NEOUCOM school, PSU/Jefferson). Didnt get interviews at 2 NEOUCOM schools (i’m out of state) and Case. I only actually accepted interviews at HPME, REMS, Pitt, and BU because it was getting expensive, and I wasnt too interested in some of the other schools.

Anything you think that helped: I really think that my project that gave medical supplies to people in India helped. I also believe that my research was very useful in getting me many interviews. Contrary to what many may think, super high SAT scores don’t help as much as you might think (except maybe in HPME). After going through the process, I think I would have ended up with similar results if I had like a 2270. My essays were ok, but not incredible, but towards the end of the process, I got much better at doing them.

I will be attending University of Rochester REMS.

Good Luck to all of you!

gpa: 4.0

Rank:1/~300

Extracurriculars: piano, science club, math club, science bowl, hospital volunteering, summer research in cancer lab

Recs:1 great, 1 good, 1 decent?

Interviews: I’m not a great interviewer, but it was definitely one of the better ones I’ve done.

Anything you think that helped: I was accepted off the waitlist for the Caltech/UCSD program. It was the only combined program I applied to. My numbers are probably what got me in. I’m sure I didn’t have as much medical experience as most of the people who applied/got waitlisted. I also kept in touch with the program directors and repeatedly expressed my interest. It was really hard to turn down Stanford, but this program is definitely worth it :)
