I'm looking to do more medical related things this summer, so ANY IDEAS!?!?!?
So where do I stand!? And what should I do this summer to improve my chances!?
PLEASE HELP AND THANK YOU!!!

Your numbers are good. Ivies and combines love Siemens or Intel science finalists. Also consider college courses such as Cornell or other ives during the summer. Everybody loves public service so keep that up. Visit your favorite schools at least twice since they keep records of that at most schools so you don’t look like a “ghost” applicant. Try to get a personal interview with the admission officer assigned to your area of the country during one of your visits. These appointments fill up fast even for the whole summer so don’t wait too long.

When you file attach a photo to either your app or have your guidance counselor attach one to your transcript if you use the common app so the admin officer will remember you. Call the admission officer a couple every 6-8 weeks so they keep you in mind but do not make a pain of yourself. Write your essays ahead and pick a unusual topic that will grab the admission officers by the lapels and speak to them. Have an English Prof or grad student proof those essays so spend some time on them. They only follow grades and SAT’s in importance.

Read “A is for Admission” book from Hernandez since many of the hot items for the ivies applies to the combines since the admission rates are equally tough. Also read the student doctor forums since they talk about specific medical schools, to include admission interviews , quality of life, etc. that will impact your decision 11 months form now so you might as well start reading those posts at:

[Pre-Medical Allopathic [ MD ] - Student Doctor Network Forums](<a href=“Pre-Medical (MD) | Student Doctor Network”>Pre-Medical (MD) | Student Doctor Network)

Pick an area of undeserved medicine such as ped neurology or ped rheumotology and become an expert in it so when the med school interview portion comes up you can speak about it without notes for 30 minutes to stand out from the others.

Oh and don’t use the name emperor in your email to the schools, and Brown combined is almost as hard as winning the lottery. Good luck.
