If you had the power to...

I would keep the electoral system. It wasn’t supposed to ever be the majority wins everything.
I don’t know if that counts as a vote.

Can we fix primaries though?

You have WAY too much faith in computers Halogen. Things start to go wrong when millions of people use the same interface in one day.

Also, an Amendment would have to be passed to get rid of the Electoral College, not a bill.

I’m willing to distrust a system if someone explains, in a way that makes sense, how it might go wrong. “when millions of people use the same interface in one day” does not make sense. An “interface” is like a language. A user interface just refers to the design of elements people can see (e.g. layout on the screen) and control (e.g. keyboard) – and how the computer translates human input into data or translates data into something a human can understand. I assume you don’t mean millions of people look at the same screen or type on the same keyboard simultaneously, and there’s no reason why someone running software on one computer would interfere with someone running software on another computer simply because they are running software with the same interface design.

The opposite problem of having too much faith in computers is having too much mistrust in them because you don’t understand how they work. Sadly, public mistrust in computers is a major reason why technological progress is delayed – progress which would expose people to computers in more ways, further dispelling common misconceptions. Digitizing elections and standardizing software used in them would be a great leap forward in that area of progress. There is, of course, much room for improvement in how the government handles technology. (Obamacare website, anyone?) But don’t let the government’s technical gaffes speak for the rest of the industry. :-)

Yeah. The government’s great at computers.

Affordable Care website is one example…
Gta5-if you’re into video games… Computers make mistakes too.

[People make mistakes writing instructions for computers to follow.](Garbage in, garbage out - Wikipedia)

If everything was automated with a computer how would a recount work? If a recount was really needed it would be because there was some kind of flaw in the program. Wouldn’t running the same program with the same data get you the same result? I must be really sleepy right now. :P
