If you have been accecpted admission to Rice U. please click here!

I was denied freshman admission to Rice U. but I still want to apply as a transfer. I plan on going to a community college and taking some basic courses there like organic chemistry, calculus II and III, introductory physics, general biology, etc. If I make at least a 3.5 GPA for a year, I think that would be enough for me to apply and have a good chance of admission.

What do you think? I have an SAT score of 1410 math&reading. I received high AP scores-- mostly 4's, one 5, and one 3. I was in Key Club and Hispanic Club and help leadership positions. I also was awarded many recognized certificates and awards.

It sounds like you are a fairly bright person…why don’t you try to applying to other universities like Baylor or UT or even somewhere out of state? Transfering to Rice isn’t a bad idea (though I don’t know how many transfers they accept each year), but since Rice is a pretty tough school to get into, you’d be competing with students from four-year universities and applying as a transfer from a community college may put you at a disadvantage.

Thanks for the heads up. I might consider going to a local university instead of a community college to get my game up and stand a more decent challenge.
