If you hear anyhting, please post it!

Hey all! Well, it's about time for some of the lucky few to hear from the Waitlist! If anyone hears anything, please post it! Also post if you receive any emails, phonecalls, etc. concerning the waitlist. Thanks :)

I thought you thought Haverford was trash. What happened?

I never thought Haverford was trash, I just tried to dissuade people from attending so possibly more Waitlist kids would get in. I figured if someone was stuck between two schools they liked equally, why shouldn't others who have no doubt in their mind where they want to go get the opportunity to do so? It was an underhanded tactic, and I'm very sorry. Let's get back to the subject of the post...

And are you interested in Haverford because of the "Honor Code"?

LOL, david218. It was not only an "underhanded tactic" to get yourself off the waitlist, it was hurtful to admitted students who were excited to be going to Haverford, and potentially detrimental to Haverford if you in fact managed to turn some highly qualified students, who had many presitigious offers (Princeton, Swarthmore, Cornell, Johns Hopkins as I recall), away from the college. They were obviously Haverford's first round choices and the fact that they had a difficult time deciding between competing offers in no way excuses your un-Haverfodian behavior. At least you have apologized, but only after you tried to rationalize why you trashed Haverford in so many threads.

if someone chooses a school based upon what he/she reads on this webpage then they deserve to lose out on great oppurtunity at 'Ford.

haha, I don't know what to say but that I second all of the kgordon bashing. I guess it would be less offensive if we were talkign a bout other schools, but at a school like Haverford, that has such a small community and values integrity and honesty so highly, it just seems dirty.

That is really low.

I more or less knew from my junior year which schools I wanted to apply to (including Wesleyan, Haverford, and Yale), and instead of dissauding people from attending them, I would always show my enthusiasm so that hopefully more good people would learn about them.

While it would be foolish to attend/not attend a school based solely on an online message board, these boards really do influence people's opinions because MOST people post honest and useful information.

No justification for that kind of thing IMHO. I guess Kgordon can probably justify it in his mind, but I wonder how he can live up to the Haverford Honor Code with those kind of personal values.

I'm sorry that he didn't get his dream school, but handle it like a respectable adult. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are having to come to terms with the same thing.

Yeayea123, I'm not sure I agree with you on that. People are vulnerable at critical decision making times in their lives. They look to many sources to help them in arriving at their decisions, including boards like these. I, myself, have found CC extremely helpful.

People on these boards trust that the information they get on these boards is, at the very least, well-intentioned, which is definitely not the case with Kevin (kGordon)'s constant and damaging Haverford bashing. You only have to read over all his previous postings - along with his own admission that he was only trying to get off the waitlist - to see that his intentions were not honorable.

When people are right on the edge of a decision, it can take just the right negative comment to 'tip the scales'. I think Haverford could very well have missed out on some great acceptees, thanks to Kevin's mean-spirited Haverford dissing.

People do trust that posters at CC give out honest information.

Wow, you Haverford people really are douches. Seriously, lighten up.

I can see why Haverford is not widely recognized: it's because of self-righteous, deadly serious, and generally unfriendly people like you (especially you, florus- please do us all a favor and get down off your high horse).

The kid apologized and is trying to be nice (or at least civil)- there is honor in that. If anything, you should all be able to appreciate that (since you all seem relatively obsessed with that inane honor code).

It's people like you who make me glad I didn't choose Haverford, and I agree wholeheartedly with yeayea123- if you are going to base your decision off some post on a college website, then maybe you don't deserve to go to Haverford (or wherever).

The people who value integrity over dishonesty are douches? OK. Doing what kgordon did reflects SO poorly on his character. Here's why: He didn't actally accomplish anything by trashing Haverford in an e ffort to turn people off from the school because, at most, he could have turned off like 5 people. 5 less people wouldn't even affect whether he gets admitted or not, so his dishonesty is even worse. I think it's horrible to do what he did even if it woudl help him out, but at least it wouldnt be totally aimless then. All he accomplished was turning peoplea way from a school that they might've loved. I dunno, this is just such an important thing and we're all in the same boat, I would just hope people would support one another and have a little inegrity.

That's not necessarily true - 5 people would make a hige difference in admissions in that that would be 5 people more that would be taken off the waitlist. Also, I don't believe that it was as HORRIBLE as everyone is making it out to be! What I saw was about 3 or 4 posts about how courses are "harder" or how another college is more "well known" etc. I believe that this whole thing has been blown incredibly out of proportion. Also, seeing as I myself am on the waitlist, I would greatly appreciate it if we DID get back to the original subject of the post, please. So if any word does get around concerning the waitlist, someone please say so. ..............

Oh, and I also have a question: why has it taken Haverford so long to make decisions on students on the waitlist when places like Boston College who had ten times as many applicants (and many more waitlisted) got back to prospective students weeks ago? Just wondering...

Reveilleforet: Are you in any way 'related' to Kevin (kGordon)? Your posts sound similar. You are both accepted at BC, and off the Wake Forest waitlist on the same day (according to Kevin's brother, Calidan).
If not, my apologies. If so, it's pretty sad.

Jesseo: Calidan (kGordon's brother)? Again, my apologies, if it is just coincidental that both of you have similar posts and language - for example, use of 'douche' in posts by both, same colleges etc.

No, I'm not related to him, but I do know him from school, and except for this incident, he is a pretty nice guy. I was just trying to defend him cuz I know who he really is, and you guys don't. Also, yeah, we did both apply (and get in) to a lot of the same schools, due in part because we have similar stats, etc. It was quite a coincidence when we both got off the waitlist! (But they did take off quite a few)

My oh my what a cunning linguist you must be to decide that two people are, in fact, the same person!

No. I'm sorry, but that's ridiculous. It would take a pretty sad person to make two names for the sake of supporting oneself on a College Discussion Board. And fortunately, I am not that sad. Sorry if we sound similar, but I guess intelligent people think alike... just kidding. :p

I hope you all have fun at Haverford. Philadelphia is quite fun (I used to spend my summers there). And now, I must take my leave of this discussion. Good luck waitlistees! (or is it waitlisters? I dunno)

Sorry about that Jesseo. I guess I just jumped to conclusions when I noted from previous posts that both you and Calidan (kGordon's twin brother) were from the Bay Area, both agonized between Georgetown and Cal (Spring entry) back in April, and then you just happened to cruise the Haverford board when Calidan's brother was annoyed with what people thought of his comments on it. You have to admit it did seem a little more than coincidental. Again, my apologies. I guess it truly is a big world out there.

Good luck to you next year!

letters got sent out yesterday June 6th and should be out soon. I guess they aren't calling people?? Should be out soon. POST when ya herrre

rejected herrrrre

Very sorry to hear that yeayea.
