if pre-med is my main major then what should i choose for my minor? should i do business as minor? or anything else? suggestion please.

you don’t need a minor. but whatever interests you go for it. minors mean very little and should just be areas of interest. im sure a medical school wouldnt care if it was business, japanese, or neurology. no difference. i would suggest not having premed as a main major though.

For Pre Med You can major really anything as long as you get the needed prerequisites for med school (so i have been told a million times). My goal is pre med as well and i have been looking at thinks like Psych, Bio, Chem, Genetics as well as a few more but i feel like having a major in science rather than something totally unrelated would help me progress into a career in medicine.

But Pre-Med like Pre-Law (for law schools) is not really favored by med schools

Pre-med isn’t a major… You fulfill the requirements for med school by taking pre-med courses, and major in something else.

He probably is refering to a pre-professional advisory program

Pre-med is not a major

Minor in Spanish, lol. Learn a foreign language, that makes you invaluable in any career.

To figure out if something is a major, insert it into the sentence “Dr. Smith received her PhD in ______ in 2001.”

Try it. “Dr. Smith received her PhD in pre-med in 2001.”

Makes no sense, right?

Pre-med is not a major.

Major in anything you want, minor in anything you want. Pre-Med is a pre-professional track, much like Pre-Law or Pre-Business, that helps you receive all the credits you need to get into most Medical Schools in the country. A major in the sciences typically satisfies a lot of the courses you need to get into medical school and it also helps give you a bit of a background when studying for the MCAT. Try a Health Professions major or a Biology major (unless you’re seriously interested in something else) with a Spanish minor. Spanish is one of the more commonly spoken secondary languages in the US and it typically boosts your starting salary and how hirable you are, since you’ll be able to communicate with more people.

I’m not interested in med school, but I always said that if I was I’d do biomedical engineering. It still gives you a good career in case med school fails. But that’s just me

^Better off to major in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical engineering rather than Biomedical. Biomedical really should strictly be a graduate study.

^ yeah listen to him he prob knows more about it than I do.

Do whatever pleases you! Choose a fun, interesting minor for yourself. Imagine how interesting you’d be if you were a Chemistry major with a Medieval Studies minor =D Mix it up and work hard.
