If you post a "What are my Chances" thread, don't give other people advice

If you are asking for Chances about yourself....don't reply to other chances threads.

If you are that unsure about college admissions and your own standing in the whole "game," how can you POSSIBILY give any reasonable or useful advice?

because you may see yourself differently than others might see you...

and you may see other people differently than you see yourself

Amen. Notice that those telling people they can get into top tier schools with modest stats are those applying to top tier schools with modest stats!

Virtually all of the people giving chances advice are people who also posted requesting to know their own chances. Consequently, if people were to follow the OP's advice, this board would shut down.

This is because knowledgeable adults and students know that there's no way to give an reasonably accurate chances estimate unless one is an admissions officer a the college in question. Still, even admissions officers know better than to estimate chances because they know that things change from year to year, and actual chances depend on what's really in the application and what the admissions pool is like for that college the year the student applies.
