What's the appropriate thing to do if you discover someone cheating on a midterm or test? What would you guys do if you discovered someone cheating, would you report it or just let it go as too much trouble to involve yourself in?

its much more trouble than its worth. how are you going to prove this person cheated? what if they find out you ratted them out? if they are mentally unstable, you might get yourself in a very sticky situation

and ask yourself, does honesty matter so much to you that you would singlehandedly attempt to ruin someone's chance at a college degree?

If it doesn't affect you DIRECTLY, forget that you ever saw it happen. If he is a "cheater", he will eventually get caught, maybe not even in college but in his job later in life. If he just needed to cheat on that particularly hard subject for him and otherwise he's OK, you'd be screwing someone who maayyybe doesn't deserve it. Hey, I know a guy that had to take a subject THREE times and didn't pass, so he gave up trying, he cheated, passed the nightmare course, and now he's a hardworking professional.

Conclusion, if it doesn't affect you, leave it alone. You saw nothing!

yeah, way too much trouble to involve yourself with. Just concentrate on your own stuff and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that that person will eventually be caught.

i wouldnt recommend snitching. One time, this girl and i snitched on someone in my math class and i thought i was almost going to get my butt kicked! Personally, i wouldnt do it again lol. After i told the teacher, he didnt even do anything about it. Even though teachers may sometimes say they are strict about cheating, at the same time, they wanna help out students...which contradicts their university obligation.

pics or it didn't happen... anyways... it's kinda sad when no one does anything about cheating, sort of makes you wonder about the kind of world we live in.

Anyways, all I gotta say is slippery slope...

Because they throw off the curve d*bases and its an insult to the people who actually took the time to study... you people come off like you guys have something to hide yourselves

The smart thing to do is to write in pencil on your exam describing that person/where hes sitting and call a GSI over to read it and catch the loser in the act so they can get their sorry *** kicked out of at least the class- its much harder to do when you don't have a GSI/professor as an eyewitness

I wouldn't snitch, but at the same time, I'd feel sorry for the people who have to cheat to get by. I'd much rather have failed out of Cal and have my integrity than have succeeded and know that my gains were ill-gotten. Fortunately, I got through alright on my own merits. It may sound stupid, but decency and integrity are in short supply in this world anymore. I dunno if anyone agrees, I'd much rather earn an honest 3.0 than a dishonest 4.0
