If you want an Bachelors in Business Administration would you also earn this in an Associates?

Confused as to wether its best (normal?) to earn an Associates degree in Business Administration (or say any other field) and then pursue the same field in Bachelors as well. Is it best to earn associates in something else that would compliment what you want to earn as an Bachelors?

There’s no definitive answer about which type of Associates you should get. If you have a Bachelors, nobody is going to care about your Associates. Take whatever interests you.

If you were to get an associates in something different than your bachelor, it is likely you would be in school for 5 years because during sophomore year you would not be taking the introductory level classes for your bachelor year (if it’s business that would include micro, macro, fin accounting, mgmt accounting, calc, etc. Are you going to community college? If so, some schools like if you have your associates in bus admin before you apply. Sometimes it will allow you to waive test score or high school transcript requirements.

Employers won’t care at all about your AA once you earn your bachelors. So the only issue at hand one of meeting the requirements to transfer from your CC to your university of choice.

I’m guessing at some point many people drop the AA from their resume. Maybe if you earned an AA in say Japanese, then went on to get a bachelors in business admin then perhaps you’d continue to list it.

The important thing is not the AA degree per se, but rather what is important is getting the courses you need to: 1) get into the college of your choice; 2) be on track for the major of your choice; and 3) be on track to graduate in 4 years if possible.

So would you think that if you take 2 years of community college there would be a better chance to be accepted in an 4 year university with associates from cc or with just general courses out of the way from cc and an higher gpa?

The AA does not add value to your bachelors degree. The ONLY issue is gaining an understanding of the transfer process from the CC to the university.

Here in CA, there is a well paved transfer process from our CCs to the CSU and UC schools.

Step one, go talk to the transfer office at the CC and get an understanding of the process to transfer to your intended school. They may well require an AA degree.

Good luck!
