Shelikescandy…you know, it would be a lot easier if you told us your income range,mthe number in your family,mand how many will be in college. We could estimate if you would be Pell eligible.

I would strongly suggest you run the net proce calculators for your colleges. In some cases, they actuall itemize out the types of need based aid, including the Pell.

In addition, you could do the fafsa4caster, and get an estimate of your FAFSA EFC.

The OP’s family has a $66k income. Likely too high for Pell unless sibs are in college.

On your other thread you said the NPC showed a Pell grant. I’m not sure how it’s coming up with what looks like full Pell for you. We also have 4 people in our household with one in college, but our income is nearly $10k less/year than your family and our estimated Pell is only $1000.

What was your EFC when you did the fafsa4caster. If less than $5000, you will be eligible for a portion of the Pell, most likely.

I’m confused, however. What is the purpose of this current thread? You know your family income, and you know you will be the only sibling in college. What is the purpose of your hypothetical posed in your OP? In other words, why does it matter?

Then you also have to ask about assets, ownership of rental properties (and yes, lower income folks have these), etc.

Really, the only thing that matters is what YOU are eligible for. Counting other peoples’ money is pointless.
