^ I forgot taxes, that’s a good point. Though a family does get tax credits, which bring it back up somewhat. But still, even 60k is pretty good.

So would you accept tax increases to enhance education?

^ Absolutely. Especially on the very wealthy. It is ridiculous that people are paid millions a year for sports, but that our teachers are paid nothing.

^ true dat!!! (:

^^ Of course I’d accept more taxes… on somebody else.

But I agree on saleries of sports players =/= sense.

^ Sorry. You can’t squeeze any more taxes out of my family. We’re already below poverty line.

That being said, I still give money to PTA fundraisers and the like. I said the most extreme wealthy, and I think they should be heavily taxed. Like, I believe that your take-home income over $300k a year (notice that is AFTER taxes), should be taxed about 50% solely for education .

That’s stupid, romanigypsyeyes. Tax those that make over 300K 50%? So then what, they are making the same as those who make 200K and get taxed 25%. That’s stupid to even think about taxing that much. Everyone should be taxed the same %.

^ If everyone was taxed the same either the poor would starve or the government would have to cut a LOT of stuff.

And please don’t call people stupid just because they disagree with you. Stupid is something like driving a land rover through a mall while drinking, texting, and carrying scissors.

Yes. It is entirely fair to make my family pay 2k in taxes when we make 20k as it is to make someone pay 50k when they make 500k. 450k goes a LOT further than 18k.

300k was an arbitrary number. I was aiming for the top 5% and I didn’t feel like looking up a statistic. Do you REALLY need more than 300k a year to live comfortably? If so, there is something wrong with you.

Well I agree that more tax money needs to be spent towards education, but anyone would agree that 50% is a ridiculous % to tax.

^ I don’t think so. After you TAKE HOME 300k (or some odd number) a year in pay, I don’t think it’s wrong to make you give $.50 of every take-home dollar after that.

No offense, but you only believe it is right because you are in the lower class. Why don’t you rise up to the higher classes or even middle class and then see how it feels to be taxed 50%. Half the money you just worked hard for? Gone.

^ FYI, I lived in one of the most wealthy areas of the country for quite a while. I haven’t always lived with my poverty-stricken parents. I lived with my aunt and uncle who make well into the 7 digits every year. Thanks for judging, come back later.

AND NO. For the last time, it is NOT half the money you worked hard for. Let’s say you made 600k a year. 400k after taxes. Therefore, you owe $50k JUST for education. You still come out with more than half of what you “earn”.

Not judging, just stating the facts.

^You said 50 PERCENT (%) for education. At least be clear on what you mean.

^ You don’t know the facts. You made an assumption based off nothing. You also made a false statement about what I stated. Therefore, you lose on both counts.

Quote: (Notice the little percent sign after the fifty)
“Like, I believe that your take-home income over $300k a year (notice that is AFTER taxes), should be taxed about 50% solely for education .”

Ya. That’s right.

Your TAKE-HOME pay (as in AFTER OTHER TAXES) OVER $300k should be taxed at a 50% rate.

I haven’t a clue how I could be ANY more clear.

(Notice the little bit about it being your TAKE-HOME income AFTER taxes before the percent sign.)

Ya. That’s right.

I would legalize marijuana and hemp and prove to everyone that they have been feed lies.
