Many students from my DD’s prep school end up at Penn and I can see the transition would be easier for them than students from a local public school. These kids are scheduled from morning, noon to night. They go from athlete events to music practices to all out social events in just one day. I bet that schools like Penn know that students like this (certainly not all) will adapt quickly to that environment. An excellent and academically focused student might find that to be overwhelming I would think, especially in the earlier weeks where social “rankings” are formed.
