I would imagine the lawsuit would be fairly high profile, at least in academic circles…
And I imagine that any admissions officer would think twice… or more… about choosing to accept an applicant so willing to take a school to court over an error.

I imagine the lawsuit wouldn’t actually be filed before the fall college semester, so I doubt it would have any impact on the student’s college admission. I also imagine that most reasonable people can discern the difference between an honest mistake and willful negligence. Finally, it’s not difficult to imagine that admissions officers at selective schools all over the country are well aware of the difference in quality and professionalism among high school guidance counselors.
