I submitted my part of the National Merit finalist application on September 27, so now I get this message:

Your school official has not transmitted the completed application to NMSC.

I emailed my school to tell them to make sure to "transmit" it by October 9, and they basically said they don't know what I'm talking about (there haven't been NMSFs in previous years).

So...when and how does the school receive the stuff they're supposed to submit? What are they supposed to do?

Wow. You poor thing…Parental involvement may be warranted here ASAP…

Also, call NM and tell them what your school said. Give them the name and number and email address of your guidance counselor. Between your parents jumping in and, hopefully, NM calling or emailing them…they should be able to get their act together.

T

Do you have a parent who can contact the GC to get this going?

How were you notified that you were NMSF?

Sadly, I agree that it’s time for parental involvement. They need to get in touch with the counselor right away. That way, if they don’t get nearly immediate results, they still have time to go make a scene in the principal’s office before that October 9 deadline.

I knew my test scores were high enough, so I told my school that they would get something in the mail and to give it to me when they did. Does the stuff they’re supposed to transmit also come in the mail?

Anyone? Is there a way I can email the NMSC?

halcyonheather, you can e-mail or call them. You can find their contact information under ‘contact us’ on your on-line application.
My son is also waiting for his school to complete his application. We are not panicking yet since the school has had NMSF in the past.
