Hi

This post is for Taxguy or anyone who has authentic/updated knowledge on the changes in CPA exam content in 2011

I am not ready to take the CPA exam yet,

I still need to take accounting major classes starting Fall2010. will be attending Cuny Queens college.

My concern is how and which universities in USA are prepared to incoporate IFRS into their syllabus.

How will they prepare the 'future CPA's to 'learn' IFRS in addition to US GAAP which is the requirement of the 'NEW' CPA exam

I wanted to err on the side of caution and would like to continue my studies at a US instituion which would 'truly' prepare me for the New CPA exa when the time comes

anyone has any suggestions

I hope I have not confused anyone.

Thank you

IFRS is a joke. My classes have briefly talked about IFRS and the differences (as well as why in 50 years IFRS will morph back into GAAP), but nothing to prapare me for this new test. All my professors are skeptical that the change will occur by 2011 and told me not to bother learning anything other than the most general of IFRS differences.

I agree that IFRS is silly and that nobody is REALLY that interested in teaching it, only pretending they teach it to seem hip. Becker review sessions will probably teach you the few things about IFRS that the CPA starts to test(probably the really basic obvious crap like “Does IFRS allow LIFO?”) and that’s it.

IFRS is 2000 pages now, it’ll be 20,000 pages like GAAP once all the lawyers and lobbyists attack it. In my opinion they should just require companies to disclose more data in XBRL format…enough so that any analyst can apply whatever accounting rules he wants to the raw data.
