IGETC Fulfillment

I have two ge courses left before I complete IGETC for transfer next fall. However, if I complete these two courses, it will put me over the 90 unit limit. Would UCs allow partial igetc certification? If so, how would that work? Alternatively, would I be able to complete my final two ge courses in the summer for full igetc while exceeding the 90 unit limit?

Do you have upper division or UC courses in your college record? Lower division non-UC courses are capped at 70 semester or 105 quarter units for this purpose and the number of units you will start at after transfer.

I do not have any upper division or uc courses in my college record. I have only attended a CC for 2 years and have lower division major courses and ge courses. If I were to complete IGETC and all of my lower div courses, it would add up to 93 semester units. Would that mean I can only transfer up to 70 units of my total units?

You would only be able to transfer 70 units but will get subject credit for the rest.

From the UC Website:

[quote]
Students will be granted up to 70 sem/105 qtr units of credit for lower division coursework completed at any institution or any combination of institutions. For units beyond the maximum, subject credit for appropriate coursework taken in excess of this unit limitation will be granted and may be used to satisfy requirements.

Units earned through AP, IB, and/or A-Level examinations are not included in the limitation and do not put applicants at risk of being denied admission.
Units earned at any UC campus (extension, summer, cross/concurrent and regular academic year enrollment) are not included in the limitation but are added to the maximum transfer credit allowed and may put applicants at risk of being denied admission due to excessive units.

Your units will cap at 70. You can take the two courses without jeopardy.
