IIT (indian inst. Of tech. ) - low in world's engineering college rankings

again, I will repeat you can do both things. It just depends on whether you’re one of those hardcore pcm-ers or a more holistic and all rounded person. oh, and if you do want to try IITJEE, go to FIITJEE. They are one fo the few ones who will coach you for both SAT and IIT at the same time. I heard other IIT-training institutes dont give good recos.

but i already joined resonance now i cant go to fiitjee …what should i do now ???

idk much about resonance, just make sure they will give you proper recos(if that is a proper school and not just a training institute).

hey i want to talk to u …are u on face book or yahoo messenger or google talk

It doesn’t matter **** where you go. Also, take recos from your school teachers instead of coaching ones na.
Also, my YM is there under my username.

ok so you already added me on fb(you’re fast lol). Don’t hesitate to send me a msg or wite on my wall if you want to know anything

thanks  …

How can you take recos from coaching class teachers? :|

I go to Yukti… Shifted to AIEEE though…

Can I explain to the univs that I haven’t been doing well in the 11th because I was/am preparing for the IIT-JEE?

You can, if they know you really well. MY maths coaching teacher is like my mentor, and I considered taking a rec from him. But that would be an ‘external rec’. Not like the school ones.

As a person who studied for JEE as well as SAT, I have this to say - if I would have prepared more for SAT, I would have got much more than the 2150 I got, and I would probably be in an excellent university in the US based on my overall acads and profile at the time of application.

I sort of gave up JEE for AIEEE because I wasted my eleventh grade completely and only seriously started studying in the twelfth. I was always a computer science person, never considered any other field, and I knew that I needed a sick rank in JEE to get CS anywhere. Therefore, I studied a lot more for AIEEE which has a much broader selection of colleges.

However, there is no doubt in my mind that I would have been much better off if I had studied for the SAT with even 1/100000th the magnitude that I studied for JEE and EEE. That is because right now, I am following US universities very closely and I know that even the colleges ranked in the fifties and below have far superior acads compared to IIT.

The reason IIT is so renowned is because of the sort of students that get in, and the fact that a lot of professors are very well qualified.

DUDE. Are you my mirror reflection or something? :P

Which university are you in? My 11th grades suck, to be frank.

I have started working really hard for the 12th grade and SAT.

AIEEE and BITSAT is just a back-up. =)

I was in Maharashtra board and FIITJEE Pinnacle.

Frankly,I felt SAT and SAT subject tests were too easy compared to JEE and all…I prepared for SAT like 10 days before the exam.I paid Princeton Review for SAT coaching and Admission Counselling but then realized SAT doesn’t need any coaching. It was like studying 8th grade for me…Either way,I wasted 40,000 bucks on Princeton Review.SAT coaching was useless and Admission counselling was stupid…
SAT subject tests are like a piece of cake if you are preparing for JEE.I never studied seriously for JEE seriously but i read all the sparknotes material a month before the exam and wrote it.Easy as hell.

btw…I am currently repeating for JEE.I wrote the SATs while repeating…I have given up on JEE and am concentrating on BITSAT.I ended up applying only to 3 American colleges and Im sure I wont get in in all the three.I dont even know why I am repeating in the first place…But i applied to Waterloo,Toronto and Alberta in Canada for safety…

SAT-2140
M-710,R-710,W-720

Math 2 760,Chem 800.Phy 740

Waterloo for safety? Woah.

Anyway, you can’t even compare the SAT’s to the IIT-JEE dude.

:P

Thats what my post said right?..SAT is ********…

2 institute of technologies in the world are often overlooked, and that is IIT and the russian IIT (forgot what it’s called).

i guess IIT is ranked so highly because its cheaper :stuck_out_tongue: … have you ever seen IITs from inside?
(and SAT is not the main factor in admissions, its importance is highly overrated here_

I’ve stayed at IIT-K since my dad is from there… The iit’s don’t have a great infrastructure, international faculty, diversity etc… That is why it is so low in the world rankings.

Well I have to choose between univ of minnesota Cooper union(haven’t heard frm them yet) and the iits which are about six and a half days away.
I will get into the iits but not with an undr2000 rank which I want. So help

At tushar , resonance notes>>>>>>>> **** off those who differ
but fiitjee tests >€€>€€€€!>>>>> resonance so that’s that
