hi. So I am applying as a transfer to cornell's ilr and it says that there is a mandatory interview. Can someone who went through this process as a transfer tell me what questions to expect generally?

I thought Hotel & Archtecture required interviews the rest did not, can anyone shed light on this particularly for incoming freshman.

I have a similar question. I recently went to a Human Ecology information session and the Director of Admissions of HumEc led it. There were about 4 other kids sitting at the table, and he asked each of us many detailed questions, including why we are interested in humec, what our interests were, etc. I feel that it was basically an interview... I believe I answered his questions very well but should I consider this a boost for my chances of admission? While he "interviewed" each of us, he had a piece of paper with a lot of our information on it that we had, prior to the session, filled out. The info included my SAT score, GPA, work experiences, most meaningful extracurricular activities, etc. What do you guys think?

ok umm im applying as a transfer not as an incoming freshman. so what would transfers expect at these interviews for ilr?

Believe me, it's really in your best interest to not prepare for the ILR interview because your answers should come out naturally. I knew what they were going to ask in advance and it ultimately hurt me rather than helped me because it's really easy to tell that your answered were rehearsed. They reword questions and drop them in the middle of your average "how is everything" convo and you don't pick up on it until you stutter in the middle of your natural answer and switch to rehearsed.

If you search around, you won't find a solid answer to 'what do they ask in the ilr interview' question which has been asked plenty times before, and there's a reason why.

It's just to weed out people who aren't really interested and just want to apply for the hell of it.
