Hi, I was wondering if ILR does interviews...I know a few ED CAS applicants that have gotten a message about an interview...Has anyone in ILR gotten a similar message?

No frshamn ILR interviews. Did u apply ed to ilr like me as well?

^ are u serious? there are no interviews for freshman ILR applicants?

I had to do a mandatory one as a transfer, so I wonder why they wouldn't have them for freshman? The one I did over the phone was pretty casual, although I was asked a ton of questions, but I think it went really well.

As an ILR alum, I do alumni interviews ("meetings") for Cornell applicants in my area, including other prospective ILRies. I think interviews are generally done according to the availability of alumni in your area.

wait...i'm really confused. so is there interview for freshman ILR applicants or no? miktau and Ren's posts are contradicting each other...

They aren't mandatory-- I didn't do one when I came in. Basically, if you're contacted, great, and if not, no worries.

You dont arange them from what i've heard (at least the admissions officer when I visited ILR said this, only transfers are required to do them), the cornell alumni association sometimes calls applicants to do it but I dont think it affects admission, I could be wrong though.

It affects admissions on the margins, but not having an interview can't hurt you. If you are contacted, however, I suggest you take the alum up on the offer and put your best face forward.

^^ What Cayuga said.
The meetings are really for the applicants to ask questions, not for Cornell!

But keep in mind that admissions will read the alum's write-up of the meeting.

thanks guys. and miktau, yes i did : )

Follow-up: I got an E-mail today about an interview. It's this Wednesday. I guess that answers my question.

i had an alumni from my area contact me about cornell and such...dont think it was anything official

D, current ILR student, never had an interview.
