ILR Teacher Recs HELP

Hello everyone!

I need help with choosing teacher recs for applying to ILR. On the website it says to choose teachers who know your interest in what ILR has to offer. My problem is, any teachers I would like to use for recommendations are my spanish, science, and english teachers - three subjects that are not pertinent to ILR. My school does not offer Government or Sociology (my school does offer law but I cannot take it until senior year) so I have no teacher for those. I never established a close bond with my math teachers and I would use my Econ teacher but I took an easy level Econ class because it is the only Econ class offered at my school. (And on recommendations teachers have to list the level of the class they taught you in - I'd rather them not know Econ was an easy one because it does not say it in the course title!) Please keep in mind I am applying to ILR to pursue business. What do you think I should do? My best recs would be from my spanish/english/science teachers but the problem is those subjects do not really relate to my interests in ILR. Such a tough decision!

To be exact, the admissions website says, "For the Instructor Evaluation, choose a teacher who knows how your interests match those of the ILR School."

Should I go with the teachers that I have the best relationships with although it does not exactly make the most sense or should I pick teachers of the subjects that fit ILR more even though I am not as close with them?

What even would be the ideal subjects? I feel like my high school does not even offer subjects that give students the ability to exhibit passion for ILR topics.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate any/all feedback! :)

Your econ teacher sounds like a great option to me. Cornell doesn’t really care if the recommendation comes from a more rigorous class teacher, but rather someone who knows you the best. I didn’t realize ILR was specific in the recommendation request, but a history teacher would seem applicable to me.

Thanks so much for the response Mikey! I really appreciate it! The problem there is Econ counts as a history class at my school. So I don’t have another history teacher. And the only reason I am still hesitant to use my Econ teacher is because my schedule already somewhat lacks rigor so I’d rather not dispel an unleveled class as an easy one. However beggers can’t be choosers so it is probably what I will end up doing! Do you think doing one from a spanish teacher and one from an english teacher would be inappropriate considering what it says on the website? Thank you!
