RoughAnswer, sounds reasonable to me. thanks for the input!

bumps for more opinions

no offense, but with your stats, there is no ‘what if’ at Yale or Columbia, unless you have published a book or acted in hollywood or something else that shows exceptional talent.
i would say shoot for UCD, and if you raise your SAT I, UCLA or USC

Yale-No
Columbia-No
UCLA-Probably
UCD-Yes
USC-Probably
UCSD-Yes
CAL-Maybe

AC, I figure it won’t kill me to try. I mean, considering my dad is going to make my apply to those schools anyway, I figured I’d mention it Fair enough though.

Thanks, bausser :)

btw I’ll be taking the SAT I in October… Hoping for 2030 or higher, we will see.

I don’t agree with those telling the OP to not even bother applying to Yale and Columbia. Although he doesn’t have high chances of getting into those schools, he seems to understand that they’re both high reaches and would just like to apply because he is genuinely interested in the schools. I don’t see anything wrong with that, especially since he recognizes that they’re both long shots and isn’t unrealistically expecting to get in.

Thank you swimstar for understanding :]

By the way, i got the 4.17 this semester. My overall GPA is now higher :)

Yeah, shoot, it seems like you guys are ripping into athenisa.

Lol oh well people have their opinions on things. We’ll see a year from now who was right and wrong. I just feel like people are focusing too much on the Yale and Columbia thing. That’s the chancing I was least interested in hearing xP

Just remember - the application fees to Yale & Columbia aren’t exactly cheap.

To be honest I have no clue what application fees to those schools are. Most UCs are ~86 or something like that, I think. So I figured it might be around there?

I’m almost certain the fee for the Stanford 2014 app was $90 or something like that, so Yale/Columbia were probably around the same range.

Okay That’s about what I was expecting

any other input? Once again my overall weighted is now probably around 4.04 and I’m hoping to increase my cumulative SAT to around 2030 and increase my SAT 2 (esp. Math 2) to around 680-730 (if I can – time might not permit)
