What about financial aid???
I read everything in their website and other websites.
It has a good financial aid stat, but is it need based??? Anyone experienced their financial aid??? What are your opinions?
Oh My gpa is 3.7 (UW) is that good enough??? I haven't taken the SATs
Oh and is Extracurricular really important?? I wasn't able to participate in too many activities due to family stuff...
Oh and do they tell you your financial aid along with your acceptance???

I got awesome financial aid. Beloit is known for giving good packages. I got a 19k in merit scholarships alone. And at 40K a year, Beloit is much less then many peer schools (which go to 50K+).

I applied EA and interviewed for a presidential scholarship and music scholarship and got mine about 2 weeks after the interviews, so I got it in early march. I think it varies depending on when you apply.

confused0123, my daughter applied to five colleges; Beloit gave her the best financial aid package. Like SmallColleges, she applied EA. She received her admission packet at the end of December, but the financial aid information didn’t arrive until early April.

I suppose extracurriculars can be important if you are weak in other areas--my daughter’s test scores were good, but not great, so I think it helped that she had a lot of EC’s. If you have extenuating circumstances due to family issues, it couldn’t hurt to tell the admissions office. The reps are very helpful.

Beloit offers both need-based and merit scholarships. Your GPA is high enough for you to qualify.

Does Beloit have foreign language requirements? I was looking at the degree requirements but I didn’t see anything about it. I know most colleges do so I am just wondering.

I also have OCD and anxiety…would I be able to get a single room with a note from my doctor?

Can anyone briefly explain these?

Students will be expected to include an experiential learning component in their academic programs.

Students will be expected to complete at least two units (or equivalent non-credit-bearing activities) involving study or experience of a language and/or culture not their own, and of the relations between nations or other global entities in a global context.

I can answer your first question. There is no language requirements (unless its apart of your major). The only required classes are 2 science/math, 2 humanity and 2 social science, of those categories the classes are your choice.

^ SmallCollegesFTW: I hate to be a grammar Nazi, but you keep doing this and it’s driving me crazy… “humanities” is plural even when referring to singular. “Humanity” = collection of humans.

Hi all,
I have been accepted into Beloit and some other schools, but I am now only considering between Beloit and OWU. For now, I am really favouring Beloit, since there is this sincere air about Beloit, kind of “Beloit feels right”, also I am looking for a strong Japanese course. However, I am still gauging between the two as OWU seems to offer a wide range of courses.
I would like to ask about the main points I need to consider before deciding because I might have missed out something.

Frozenfridge - I’m sure a Beloit student will answer you soon (they are busy people!) - I am just the parent of one -
One thing Beloit has (or had on Wednesday night) that OWU didn’t have was a meteor! [“Major,” Green Meteor Lights Midwest Night Sky](<a href=“National Geographic”>National Geographic)

Really - I know time is running out for decision making but you probably won’t go wrong with either school though of course I am a huge fan of Belot!

hi, i am looking for some information about the dorms, specifically Peet, Chapin, and Aldrich. any information you’ve got about them would be much appreciated!

i’ve heard really mixed things about Peet, so it’s hard to know what’s right.

personally i hate peet- i have plenty of friends who don’t do drugs or party hard who live there and like it just fine, but peet has a bed reputation on campus. sofa cushions are often broken, bathrooms are a mess, and the hallways often smell of cheap beer and marijuana.

chapin and alrdich, on the other hand, are great! chapin (as well as brannon) have sinks, but chapin does not have laundry or kitchin facilities, most students go to maurer for that. aldrich is often called “hotel aldrich” but i don’t find it necessarily any nicer than it’s siblings maurer, brannon, and chapin. for what it’s worth, i live in maurer and while it’s sorta hard to make friends here because i’m in a single and a lot of students are upperclassmen, the facilities are GREAT! it’s quiet, well-kept, the people are respectful… and unlike the 3rd floor of aldrich, we didn’t have someone urinate in our refrigerator at the beginning of the semester! (also 3rd floor aldrich is one of the party floors this year but that changes from year to year; only peet is consistently a “party dorm”).

So, I was recently accepted and I’m trying to decide between Maurer, Chapin/Brannon, Bushnell, or possible Aldrich. Any suggestions?
