I am 29 years old. I first attended college in 2009. I changed my major a few times and thought nothing of it. However, Pell Grant has been cut over and over since then and I’m now maxed out on student loans as well.
I attended a community college then switched to a 4 year University to study computer science. I was doing well but then had to drop out due to financial hardship in 2013.
In 2014 I resumed college, and settled on a degree of Public Safety Management. I then continued my schooling and everything was going great. I was going to become either a police officer or work for FEMA.
However, in 2015 out of nowhere I was brutally beaten and robbed at gunpoint. This gave me awful ptsd and basically threw any chance of a law enforcement career down the drain.
Now roll the clock forward to now: Last semester I got my last round of student loans I just found out. I thought spring would be my last semester but no Fall was.
I have 18 credits left to go, work for a meager wage, and really I question whether even working hard and shelving out all that extra money to get the degree out of pocket is even worth it since I have ptsd now and can’t do most of the careers a Public Safety Management degree would entail. Life seems hopeless…HELP!
