I'm alive.

Where did Evil Robot end up? Is he at Yale?

No, at Vanderbilt. He got full scholarship plus a laptop at Vandy.

Hey guys - I'm having a little problem!

I put in a request to have my rank taken off, as basing a rank on 3 classes doesn't seem reasonable. The principal, who I really like, said that she would discuss this with the superintendent and others.

Anyways, they can't do it, so she is writing a letter to my colleges explaining the circumstances and shedding a little light on me as a student pursuing a different type of high school experience.

Now, my problem is that at the end of the year, the average of my 3 courses could be something like a 90, which would probably drop my rank into the hundreds....of course it could also be a 110, which would end up making me valedictorian.

Either way, the situation is ridiculous and no one seems to understand these two distinct situations that could result. If I ever want to transfer, it could look awful to have such a horrible rank.

Is there any other way of explaining this to the administration, or should I just let it go? What annoys me is that if I got a 110, and I was the valedictorian or anything like that, you could be sure someone would argue it, probably sue me! But because its not affecting anyone else right now, they dont seem to care.

I don't know what else to do, but it is weighing on my mind at a time when I should be relaxing (for at least a week or two, till the next round of apps get started :))

Ilcapo:

Best thing is for the principal to address the issue of rank in your highschool record. If you were to transfer, your high school record would be of somewhat less importance than your college record anyway. But for the moment, concentrate of being admitted. And for that purpose, your impressive college courses and a principal's explanation of your rank should do the trick. So relax.

He's another one. Quite an interesting student. I'm kind of pulling for him...

Thought I read that Evil Robot LOVES Vandy, posted by ER himself.

ilcapo - If you think it would be helpful, you could visit with my nephew when you go to Kenyon. He is a first-year student (and almost as opinonated as you are <grin>.) Use the private message system if you are interested. </grin>

Note on Xiggi - Xiggi is an extremely bright and mature kid and was an outstanding poster, all of which led to his frequent acknowledgment of what he had learned from others on this board.

ilcapo, it's good that the Principal is writing the letter. Good for you. Hope it works out and you don't need to apply next round.

I am rooting for Tlaktan myself. Nice kid. I hope it works out for him.
