I'm an econ major. What classes can you say for sure that I'll be taking next year?

I'll be freshman at Penn this fall, and I want to get a slight head start. This summer, I want to self-study a little the stuff that I'll be learning at Penn, so I don't get overwhelmed by the courseload or anything.

I'm majoring in economics, and I have already gotten 5s on AP Macro and Micro, so I won't be taking those introductory courses. What other courses can you say for sure that I'll be taking at Penn as an econ major? Where can I get this information?

Please don't bash me for being a nerd who studies too much and has no social life.

even though i am in wharton (the real economics degree), i once considered dualing with econ so i can tell you what you need to know.

you'll need to take 101, 102, and 103 after 001 and 002 (you already have credit for them, so you claim, though i remain skeptical, i don't belief you)

also i was going to bash you for being a nerd who studies too much since you should enjoy your summer and read ben franklin's autobio and stuff like that rather than study econ, but you gave that disclaimer so i won't.

The Economics Major

isn't it possible to balance academics with things I like to do this summer? time management?

btw thanks for the info

thanks for the info.

Did you get a 5 on the BC calc exam? You need to pass out of Math 104 before you take Econ 101. Email Llyn Costello after you talk to your premajor advisor and get the permit to take Econ 101 if you pass the math requirement. Next semester you should take Econ 101, Math 114, and two other requirements like foreign language or a writing seminar.

Also, there is no need to study before the school year. Have some fun. There is plenty of time to study when school starts.

The following economists would beg to differ:
Krugman
Ricardo
Stolper
Samuelson
Ohlin
Keynes
Friedman
Sachs
Greenspan
Malthus
Mill
Hayek
Veblem
Commons
Berle
Galbraith
Stiglitz
Leontief
Meade
Tobin
Becker
Nash

Etc....

^Agreed....freetense's comment was pretty moronic...but I can tell he really is in wharton (the lack of coherent writing and correct spelling were sort of a tip-off).

oh man you guys are so clever. excuse me while i go manage my billion dollar hedge fund. I am not a moron. how dare you.

"excuse me while i go manage my billion dollar hedge fund"

You mean the one that was worth 4 billion last year? :p

freetense I never said you were a moron (though you're doing a hell of a job proving that on your own), I said your comment was moronic. Alas, I can not expect your humanities-deprived mind to grasp the concept of reading comprehension.

Clearly all that your humanities education has done is permit you to argue semantics with me.

what the hell are you guys all three years old or what

stop arguing over useless crap

my engineering education permits me to calculate the uselessness of this discussion

We're Penn students on summer vacation with nothing to do outside of internship/work stuff. Why not argue over useless crap if it kills time?

i spend my time getting celebrity poontang.

I spend most of my summer hunting endangered species.

quit trying to compete with me. you fail

I'm still at Penn. Wheee!

as am I lawl
