Right now I'm @ a CC. Currently,I'm on the track to transfer by spring '10.I'm tired of taking bus everyday.I hate going around its schedule.I can ride it out this semester;but my plan is to get a car next spring.

I need some help finding a car.

My criteria are as follows:

-need something to get from point A to B
-something known for its reliability
-isnt greedy with gas
-parts to fix don't cost am arm and leg

My budget is $1000-2500.

Can anyone post car makes, models and years that I should look into?
Also,I will update with cars yall suggest and post the ones around my area.Btw,I have people that can help me out as well, but any opinions are welcome.

check out consumer reports repair info and one of the used car price guides (edmonds etc) to find out which cars are likely to last a long time and will be in economical. FYI - the corolla / civic suggestion is a great one ... inexpensive and they run forever. In the $1000-$2500 range it might have to be a pretty old car but still could run fine for quite awhile.

Bring someone with you to check out the cars. It might look awesome from the specs/pics, but until you've (or someone else knowledge with cars) inspected it, it's pretty much just another car for sale.

Whatever you do, try to avoid used car dealers. If you can find an individual selling a car, you're likely to get a better deal on price. Used car dealers jack up their prices to make a profit. It's not impossible to find a good deal by looking at dealers, but don't make that your only option. It's also best to stay away from used car dealers that also operate brand new car dealerships. They jack up prices even more.
