I'm facing pressure to major in accounting, but should I?

I'm a rising junior and I need to pick my concentration like right now. I know that accounting may be better for future job prospects, but I struggled in the intro to accounting classes and did not enjoy them.

Intro to Financial Accounting: 2.9
Intro to Managerial Accounting: 2.5

However, my grades for economics and finance classes were good and I like them.

Intro to Microeconomics: 3.7
Intro to Macroeconomics: 3.6
Business Finance: 3.6

What is the best thing for me to do? Push through accounting or go into finance?

Thank you.

I say go into finance since you didn’t do too well in accounting.

But be forewarned that finance is very math heavy.

Okay, I see. Thanks.

What is your ultimate goal? An acquaintance’s niece majored in finance and has not been able to find a job. Her husband went to grad school because he couldn’t find a job in Finance and he also didn’t do an internship. He has a master’s in finance and is working at Best buy as a sales clerk.

I see. Where do they work?

If you want to go into finance, WHERE you go and what internships you do matter more than your major.

Also, undergrad finance is NOT a math heavy major, it’s pretty light in my opinion. If you can do arithmetic, you can do finance.

I’m a math/econ major with minors in stats and accounting, and while my uni doesn’t have a finance major or minor I’ve taken nearly every finance related course offered. I could’ve handled the math in middle school. I’m better at math than most though.

operations research, industrial engineering and financial engineering ARE math heavy though.
