8th grader syndrome.

It’s fun to pretend?
Smh.

Middle School Val = Pointless ****.

Not entirely pointless…If you think about it, even the high school val is pointless. For example, of the high school val lived a lonely life, and the person with the lowest average came up with a new invention…

Assuming you’re not a ■■■■■ (though I have my doubts): In approximately three years’ time, you will look back at yourself and realize how pointless this is.

You learn from failure, not success. Better get accustomed to it before you get your first C (or D oh my!) on a quiz/test/assignment in high school and totally freak out.

That’s a stereotype. For example, our val is well liked and has a great social life. And the probability of that happening is low.

No one cares for middle school. At all.
There’s no point to it.

^^Both are pointless in the long run. High school val doesn’t really help with ivies, and middle school val doesn’t help with anything at all.

You’re in 8th grade, so you might not be able to gain perspective yet, but don’t worry; you’ll gain it in time.

Yeah definitely don’t try in middle school, because if you do you’ll miss the easy days by the end of high school.

You need to relaxx.
I was the val of my middle school, and you know what that means for me now in high school? Nothing, really, nobody cares, it’s cool for the 10 seconds that you get it in eighth grade, but beyond that, well…
I wish someone had just told me to take it easy in middle school, because it really doesn’t matter at all.

I use old-fashioned exercise books. Not so sure about this newfangled Smart Music thing… ;)

amen 7Smily hahah I was too. Now I go to a regional hs where I’m not even close to val haha.
at my 8th grade graduation, the (retiring) superintendant proceeded to tell us that everything we had done in the past 9 years was worthless and did not matter. such a lovely speech but in reality, its the truth. I did all sorts of cool stuff in middle school, but there’s no place to put it on college applications hahahahaa. kind of a kick in the pants when you realize all that work you did in middle school was indeed worthless.
so really. do yourself a favor and relax.

wow this is kind of sad. you worry this much about grades in middle school? you need friends…

Wow guys, no need to be so harsh, Jesus Christ. It’s true that Middle School Valedictorian means nothing in the long run, but if it’s important to you then just keep trying your best. Also don’t worry that much about getting an 87 on the Algebra 1 midterm, its really not that big of a deal.

There’s every reason to be harsh about someone who feels this way. It is as if someone told you they wanted to marry a cookie but their brother ate it and is now ****ed off at the brother.

Seriously, no one should ever feel this way. Middle school is absolutely, ABSOLUTELY meaningless, except for perhaps placement into honors classes your freshman year in HS. To top that, worrying about being valedictorian in middle school? Wow. If I were an adcom and I read about that I’d immediately reject the person.

middle school doesnt matter where u place in ur class. high school matters more

College > HS > Elementary school > Middle school

In order of importance. I ranked elementary over middle because in elementary, you are taught to read, write, and do math. After that, everything is busy work until you hit High school. I feel like most of the stuff we learned in middle school wasn’t used AT ALL in high school. Middle school is more about a social transition between childhood and adolescence than anything else really.

Only try in math in middle school. I didn’t try at all in middle school but, yet i’m in all advanced/AP classes with As in most of them. The only thing i regret is that i’m not in accelerated math.

Remember just math, nothing else.

Don’t forget foreign languages, because middle school is when REAL instruction begins, and without a solid foundation, you’ll never advance very far.

unless you’re applying to a boarding school for high school, middle school grades are completely pointless.

awards? 4.0’s? teacher recommendations?
They won’t mean **** if they’re only from middle school.

use that time you spend studying and take up a sport, so you’ll have an edge during your high school season.
or find elementary school kids to tutor, and get some cash out of it. You can continue this into high school too and list it as a job.

Like other posters have said, good grades in middle school don’t translate over in high school. Your work might seem overwhelming now… haha just wait until you get to your AP/IB classes.

Spend your time on better things while you still can. Then in a year you can focus on your studies.

Seriously! Just enjoy middle school while it lasts, middle school grades ar basically pointless . If you’re that stressed out about this middle school valedictorian thing, you’ll have tons of fun in high school.
