SAT scores: (here is where it's bad)-
Critical Reading 610
Math 590
Writing 710

AP Scores (Junior year)
A.P. U.S. History-4
A.P. Lang & Comp-5 (I was the only person in my school to get this...we didn't even have a teacher......)

School I want to get into (in order). I live in NC.
1.University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
2.Wake Forest University (would need a hefty financial aid package)
3.NC State University
4.Campbell University
5.College of William and Mary

I am retaking the SAT in October to raise my math score...
For UNC at least, I'm applying EA, Nov. 2. I've already applied to Campbell (rolling admission, no essays...)

Thanks a lot!

For career, I'm thinking of either pharmacy or dental.
If I went to UNC or NC State, I'd want to major in biomedical engineering...elsewhere some form of chemistry or biochemistry..

I live in NC as well. What County are you in? You are for sure in at State and Campbell. You are probably in at Wake because they don’t care about your SAT scores. UNC is probably good but an SAT score that is above 2000 would probably make it a for sure match. Finally William and Mary I am not sure about. I’m applying also but I’m not sure what criteria is important for OOS applicants. I’ve heard that visiting and doing the optional interview boost chances a lot. So I guess if you do that and do well on their optional essay then you should be fine.

Yeah, my SATs were low…the first time I took it was the weekend before the AP tests, and the second time was the weekend between my final exams! I just hope to improve my math score this time…

I live in one of the worst counties in NC (Halifax…), but I live on the lake, so I still love it. Great luck with your admissions! Perhaps we’ll end up at the same school.

Honestly, W&M just attracts me because of the atmosphere and people. UNC & NC State have the joined biomed engineering program, so either one of those would be ideal for my interests. Of course, UNC is just amazing, and I’d LOVE to go there!

Just study the Blue Book and your math should be fine. I’m taking it again in November I think, so I’m going to try and boost all of my scores about 50. That sounds nice though living on a lake. Good luck with admissions.

Have you taken a ACT ? -many smart kids will do better on one of the tests than the other (SAT/ACT). what about the SAT2 ?

Great work on your GPA/EC

SO
UNC - must have better SAT/ACT
Wake - test blind for admission (but not FA) so your in but can’t afford to attend
State - mostlikely in but depends on program
Campbell - sure
W&M - must have MUCH higher SAT/ACT

My advice - take the ACT ASAP, SAT in Oct, SAT2 if needed. (being from an under served county will help you at UNC)

I think you have a great shot at your schools. Your ec’s are great and your gpa is great as well. I just think that you need to improve your SAT scores (i do too). Just keep practicing on SAT math everyday and I’m highly positive that you’ll get the math score that you want! Just stay ultra focused until applications are due!

Thanks everyone. I will make it a goal in the 15 minutes of free time I have each day to practice my math. I haven’t taken the ACT, and I now wish I had. I could take it Oct. 24, but I honestly have such little time to even get my required school work done that I don’t think I would do well on it. I’m just going to concentrate on math (I, somehow, did very well in PreCalc, the best in my class…I don’t know what happened on the SAT).

It would probably be a good idea to start those essays too… =]

UNC-CH and W&M are the only ones I think you’d trouble any withn if you have trouble at all. I think you’ll be good for WF.
