I don't know. I mean, i know i have strong Extracurriculars but my SAT scores just .............. yeah ........ def. not the level that you guys are at. the thing is my parents have invest thousands of dollars and yet, all i can pull off is a stinking 2080.

I don't know. I'm kinda looking to apply early to Columbia and so that basically means I have only one more shot at any type of SAT (I or II)... so either I take SAT I and get a better score or take SAT II's again for French... along with Lit., and Math 2c

are you from Wissahickon??? (trojans...)
any ways..

KUMDO IS NOT KOREAN TRADITIONAL SWORD-FIGHTING!!
(I GUESS YOU LEARNED IT FROM HAN AH REUM??)
IT'S JAPANESE MARTIAL ARTS!!!
PROPER PRONUNCIATION IS KENDO NOT KUMDO...
i guess you're not really into "Kumdo" since you don't even know the country of origin... (i'm not trying to offend you... i just wanted to point a FACT)
but your resume looks decent.. good luck!

joe_lee, you need to raise your SAT scores. Claremont and W&L are slight reaches/matches. JHU and G-town are reaches and Columbia is an almost impossible reach, unless you raise the SAT substantially.

OT but what school do you go to? I too attend a suburban public hs right...outside...of Philly.

what school to do you go to? i go to wissahickon (ambler).

also, about my sat scores ... would something from mid 2100s be OK?

i'm also worried about my sat 2 scores. i contacted the office and they
told me to take them in nov. and just send them in regardless of the deadline.
they said that they will try to consider it. i'm thinking of just taking
literature and math 2c. no french. would you recommend it?

joe_lee, do yourself a favor and get out of CC before it devours you whole! (not always a bad thing.......) If you are already in too deep, then please, for the love of whatever you hold dear, Stay Away From the "What Are My Chances?" threads........they only make you feel inadequate and more stressed out than you need to be.

As for your chances, it really is a crapshoot out there. Just bump up those SAT's and you're a good a candidate as any. Hopefully, adcoms see us kids as not just numbers and figures but as fallible, unique, human beings.

P.S. If you're taking the lit II SAT, make sure you prep. Even if critical reading/writing is your thing, you still need to prepare yourself a bit for some of the poetry.

I go to Haverford. And I know someone from Wissahickon, this awesome girl named Samantha Howe...I'm Samantha too, LOL.

About your SAT. 2200 is pretty much the ideal. I advise you, like I advise everyone else, to try the freaking ACT. It's awesome. I took no SAT - I tried the ACT first and I'm happy with my score. Also, it's been proven that kids score higher on it. One of my friends was ranked pretty high, got a 1200 on the old SAT, took the ACT, and got a 34/36. That's equivalent to a 1510-1550, and she didn't even prep that much.

If the office told you to take them in November and send them in regardless of the deadline, just do that. The SAT IIs are not as important as other aspects of your application. Some schools like NYU don't even ask for them, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. One of my cousins took 8 and said she wishes she took 2 or 3 because it was a waste of cash. Just take 2 out of the 3 you mentioned. Or 3, doesn't matter.

joe_lee, the odds are just really against you given SAT score and home State, ethnicity. If you like Columbia, what about Chicago? Much smaller reach.

If not Columbia, I'll definitely be looking into Claremont McKenna, Washington and Lee, and Georgetown. Maybe even Fordham, who knows?
What colleges would you guys suggest for me??
