Im graduating Highschool at 20

Okay I’m 16 I only have 25 high school credits so I am going to be graduating when I’m 20 years old. Do colleges look down upon that? I’m trying to become an OBGYN so I really need to know. Do you think there will be people my age in high school as well sometimes I feel I’m never going to graduate. How old are the majority of college freshmans"

Colleges won’t care how old you are when you graduate high school.

@Vladenschlutte‌ do you think its bad to graduate high school at 20? How many 20yrs old are in high school?

Yes it’s bad lol. Why are you so behind on credits? I’ve honestly never heard of a 20 year old high schooler, highest that’s ever been at my school was 19

@nickxx “thanks for your help” because of my online school where they give me classes I don’t even need. Well I’m trying to become successful.

Everyone’s situation is different. You should aim to graduate earlier than that since you have some credits (I don’t know your credit system but I’m pretty sure 25 credits is closer to graduation than 0 credits) and high school usually only takes 4 years, but I don’t think it’s a huge deal to graduate at 20.

How many credits do you need to graduate?

@Vladenschlutte‌ @irlandaise‌ I need 220 credits to graduate yes 220 I want to become a doctor and I know that is a tough career but I have been motivated since I was 11

Would it not be possible to transfer to a traditional high school? Why are you taking online classes if they’re evidently keeping you from graduating? Can you take summer classes? Might it be easier to get a GED and apply for colleges that accept that? Why do you have such few credits? Assuming this is the California system, 25 credits is 2.5 classes.

@irlandaise‌ I don’t want a GED if I do stay on K12 I will graduate 2016-2017 but when I need to talk to them they don’t listen I need help with college applications and SAT and everything.

Okay, so if you stay with your online school, you’d graduate Spring 2017, presumably on time, with a high school diploma?

@irlandaise‌ yes high school diploma and everything.

The majority of college freshman are traditionally 17-19; but that doesn’t really matter. Medical school will not care when you graduated high school - if you work hard in undergrad, regardless of your age, you can go to medical school and become a doctor - plain and simple.

I wish you the best of luck.

@preamble1776‌ thanks I am more than motivated.

College freshman can range quite a bit in age. Typically they’re in the 17-19 age group, but many are older. I was 25 my freshman year of college.

@comfortablycurt‌ makes me feel better

I’m now 28, and I’m still nowhere near the oldest person at my school. Not by a long shot.

@comfortablycurt‌ okay cool what level of education are you at.

I’m in my third year, but technically a sophomore. I took a really light first semester, and I had to do a couple of remedial math classes. I’m a physics major, and having to take a couple pre-calculus math classes set me back a little bit.

@comfortablycurt‌ cool physics what is your future career goals?
