I'm hoping for a 2 on my APUSH exam!

Anyone else have such "high" aspirations? :P

This was the first AP class that I took...that wasn't the problem; it was because it's HISTORY-the most useless, boring, despicable subject in the world! :D

I'm ranked one in my class right now, but I didn't really apply myself for this class. Last semester I had an A (we don't do +s, -s), but I need a 97% this quarter to average an A for this semester. Oh well...I'm still trying though. =/

I never read the chapters (well, except for the first 13 or so, and then I got lazy/bored), so I made like 50% on most of the tests. However, our teacher has "binders" that we turn in each unit with all our notes, journals, activities, etc. The class IS taught at an AP level (really difficult mult. choice, FRQs, DBQs, etc.), but if you do all the work in the binders (which are weighted much heavier than the tests b/c its so much more work), you can get an A.

So yeah, if I get a 2 I'll be very proud of myself, because it means I would be "possibly qualified"! Woo, that would be awesome! (even though that means no credit, but w/e).

And why am I taking this test? My mom made me. :P I tried to tell her that I knew nothing about history!

First of all, whats the point of this topic?? To say history sucks... or what?
Having an A in an AP class rarely qualifies as a 3 even at my high school.

And to many History is not useless, boring, or despicable :).

And yea if you don't read the chapters.... don't expect to get a high score. Just saying.

Careful, if you get a high grade in an AP class and a low score on the AP exam colleges might suspect grade inflation.

Yeah, I was wondering about that alpha, but colleges don't see my AP scores until I send them to them do they? And I have only taken 1 AP class, so I will send my AP scores (if necessary) Summer 2008 (I'm taking 4 or 5 next year).

The point of this topic is to:

a) see if there are others who aren't sure they're going to get a 3-5

b) to point out how much history sucks--not because I dislike it or am "bad" at it (I just hate to read about it), but because it serves no purpose. Ever since I was in grade school, I realized that history is the most useless, unnecessary subject around! It has not gotten us anywhere in society like math/science has. If history were never around, we would be the same. Don't say "we need to understand our past, blah blah blah" whatever.

Why is history not on the ACT?

That's right, because it's unimportant! :) (Nothing against people who like history, of course...)

"[History] has not gotten us anywhere in society like math/science has."

That's because too many people, like you, ignore it.

I can understand if you hate history. But it does serve a purpose. And who says the ACT is important? To some it means nothing. Since when was the ACT a good indicator of whats important and not?

i know one with a A in class and 2 on AP

Following your perspective, that history has no purpose, we could just erase your memory and everything would be great, right? You don't need to know your own personal history to get by in life. But wait, you do, don't you?

Just like every person needs to know their own past- where they came from, how they got there, WHY they're there, societies need to know their past. What kind of attitude would anyone have toward their country or toward their world if they didn't know about the things that took place before them? It IS important that we know how our nation came to be. It IS important that we know all the people who helped shaped it. And it IS important that we learn it detail by detail and know what drove things to turn out the way they did, because in that way we truly understand what happened beyond facts and statistics.

No, history doesn't keep society moving forward like math/science does, but it keeps us grounded to where we know our place.

If we had no history or people to understand the past, nor people who listened to those people, then we'd be doomed to make the same mistakes over and over again. Oh wait we do make the same mistakes over and over again! That's why we need history. We cannot know our present without first understanding our past.

I hate history too but it's something everybody should know.

Why did you even take the class if you hate history so much?

no wonder people say today's society is becoming increasingly ignorant

Well, I didn't mean PERSONAL history, but rather, history of countries, etc.

It's still useless though in the sense of detailed classes about it...I thnk a basic grasp is necessary, but all these dates, people, specific events, etc. Bah, who cares.

Then again, I know there are people (like many of you) who like a history or find it necessary to know specific events and people. More power to you...I guess.

I took this class because it was either that or regular US History, and this was the first and only AP class offered junior year. All the "smart" kids were doing it, and I DO like the actual class structure better than the regular US History class. Rest assured, I won't be taking AP Eeuro next year hahaha.

juventus ignorant hi
