when putting in my deposit, i chose Biology as my intended major.

i only chose this because after reading about the department, i thought it was broad enough for me to see what i can truly excel in and learn from. i was thinking about the BS degree in cellular and molecular biology.

admittedly, im a more quantitatively analytical person, so i was originally considering Biophysics or Biomolecular Engineering.

Regardless of what you put on the form, you are officially “no declared major.” Most students don’t actually declare a major until sophomore year, and there is no need to do so prior to the end of sophomore year. So try a variety of different areas out and you will be in a better position to decide as you go along.

You don’t need to pick your major based on your desire to go to med school. You can major in absolutely anything and still go to med school. I agree with bonanza - explore a bit and see what area you find interesting. If you decide you love German literature (as a random example), there’s nothing keeping you from majoring in that and still going to med school

take a wide range of things freshman year and you’ll find something. be open-minded and you may find something you love that you didn’t know you did.
