I was just wondering one thing though, when you first start, how much money would you make say you graduated from a prestigious school like UCLA? This includes having a bachleors, masters and PHD. (Not all at once, I mean how much money would you make if you had one of these degrees individually).

I know that you shouldn't choose a job just for the money, but I am intrested in becomming a professor, but I don't want to be make 30K a year.

From what I have heard, a good professor who has received his Ph.d can make salaries into the six figure ranges. Not bad I would say especially if you can get tenure later on.

But doesn't it take a damn long time to get one?

Yes, it does. It sometimes takes years of teaching to even get reviewed for tenure, much less earn it. And besides, how many professorships are there for top 25 schools? Not many. You certainly can make good money as a tenured professor at a well respected school, but those professors there are the best in their fields and certainly didn't start out making six figures.
