I'm just a regular kid..what can I do?

I have no hook, but I believe that Yale would be the best place for me. I've visited several times (informally - have not registered with Admissions) and from everything I've heard and read, I would find what I'm looking for at Yale more so than at other colleges with which I am familiar. At most schools, there seems to be a division between social and academic, but at Yale, it seems that many students are social through their academics and that is what I am looking for.

So, what can I do? I'm ranked second in my class of 400, I've taken four AP classes through my junior year and am taking five this year. I am an AP Scholar. I founded a club which has grown, I volunteer extensively, I've volunteered and worked abroad and I've participated in numerous other activities, events and scholarship symposiums, and I've held a job for the last year. I hold elected leadership positions in student government. I'm white and female. I excel in the social sciences and in science. I love to learn and enjoy everything about my education. No one from my high school has ever gone directly to Yale, although someone went to Princeton a few years ago and several students have been admitted to Duke, Brown, Cornell, UVA, UNC etc.

At this point, I'm planning for next summer. Is there something that I can do which would help my chances at Yale? I know it's an impossible question, but at this point, I believe my chances of getting into Yale are close to impossible. I've yet to take the SAT/ACT/PSAT and know that will make a huge difference. Thank you for any advice you could offer.

Anyone’s chances of getting into Yale are close to impossible; you’re not alone.

Take the SAT/ACT and the SATIIs (if you are submitting the SAT). Get scores for those and compare them to the middle 50% of Yale’s student body and see how well you do.

If you are academically qualified, it looks like it’ll mostly be up to the recommendations/essays.

I wouldnt worry too much about not coming from a Yale-Saturated school. I dont think it is that much of an issue? Correct me if Im wrong.

And yes, take the SAT. Everyone’s chances are low. It doesnt mean youre not qualified, it means Yale cannot accept all qualified applicants.
