I'm kinda in a dilemma with AP's...

Passion is better than leadership, imo.

hm...thanks guy this is great advice/information. really gives me hope.

And your chances increase when your a Californian resident...by like a lot

You're fine.

I got into CoE (probably the hardest to get into at Berkeley), and by the time I was a junior I had only one AP. I only took 3 more senior year. Granted, they were hard ones (calc, physics, bio, and stats...well stats not so much), and my school also doesn't offer as many ap's, but still...I ended up with only 4. It was only after logging onto cc that I found out that 4 was low. If you have 3 now, and another 4 senior year, and your gpa and test scores are high (as you said they are), you should be fine. Try to get good grades in the AP classes and good AP exam scores too...but apply, because I really think you're ok.

AP scores do not matter at all. AT ALL. If you fail one, they don't care. No where in the admission contract do they say you have to pass, and additionally, you'll have been accepted by the time the APs roll around.

thank you all for your uplifting comments :)

but I have more to say :P

Berkeley's website said that they had more than 25,000 applicants with GPA's of 4.25 or above out of the 40,000 applicants to occupy 9,000 spaces.

By the end of this (junior) year, my GPA (UC and Weighted) will be 4.08, but I also have a high unweighted GPA of 3.99, fairly above the berkeley's average 3.82.

I'm becoming very concerned my low (relative to berkeley's average) UC and W GPA will get me rejected...

I think there is a piece of information, something that I'm missing, about the 25,000 applicants with 4.25's...can someone fill me in?

thanks.

my W gpa is 4.1
you really just have to be well rounded, i think.
& have kick butt personal statements.
motivation counts a ton also
i wrote about that in my essays
