The reason being that-->I'm a Senior, and I'm only taking 5 CLASSES this year:
1)AP Calc AB.
2)AP English Literature.
3)AP Chemistry.
4)Econ/Civ
5)Work Experience.

Should I have taken more? Would the Berkeley Admissions Office think I'm slacking? But.. I do have a lot of extracurriculars. *sigh, I'm so worried about not getting accepted here. I'll be happy for anyone who has any word of advice.
Thanks.

Yea, that class load is way too light. I think there is an above-average chance that Cal might rescind your offer. Usually you need to take around 7-8, not to mention get all A's in them. boy, good think I'm totally kidding right now. You are fine, don't worry about it, you're taking more (and harder) classes than most people senior year. Now breath and relax.

omfg.. reading your first few sentences scared the living daylights out of me. I was holding my breath. But are you sure? Work Experience isn't really a class.

well I wasn't really worried about the grades--> more like concerned that the Admissions Office would think that 5 classes isn't enough for a Senior, that they would think I'm slacking.. but i'm not.
I guess I'm just being overly paranoid. The Oct 6 SAT really fried my brain.

Our school has a program where people take half-days of classes (usually 4-5 classes) and spend the rest of the day at an intership or research project. If that is what you mean by "work experience", you should be fine, because people usually fight for these sorts of things and it's seen as very beneficial in college admissions.

Wow, dramatic title. That's like...the smallest mistake of your life. Actually, it's not even a mistake. It's probably the smartest thing to do with your senior year.

I'd have to agree with the people: that's not a mistake at all. First off, the worst thing that could happen is senioritis with a full AP class load. Having a bunch of Cs or Ds on a midyear report could result in Cal rescinding your offer, however. In this case, your class load is not too heavy. (I'm doing the same thing: I have 4 AP and/or IB classes and PE and health as a senior, but only because I took rigorous courses the other 3 years.)

I took four real classes senior year:
AP Physics
AP Macroeconomics/Government (first/second semester)
AP Language/Composition
TA Integrated Science (this meant, for 4/5 days of the week, going to a nearby room and playing cards with a bio teacher and a friend of mine)
Math 54/53 (first/second semester)

Unless you HAVE to work for family financial considerations, applicants should try to take five academic (a-g) classes each year since one criteria of admission is senior year class rigor.

Senior classes do matter, I'm pretty certain, because all schools ask for your senior schedule. But if you have 3 AP classes it should be fine, for Berkeley anyway. If your school only offers those AP courses for seniors or you've already completed most of the AP's, all the better.

The only problem that I can conceive is if you drastically downgrade your course curriculum; e.g. you take ceramics or art if art history AP is offered, or if you go from calculus to statistics (non-AP).

I don't know, I had taken the AP's that I wanted to take by that time, so I just chilled. I took a CC class for two quarters in my senior year though.
